2018 Christmas Gift Review & Giveaway - Mac Undercover - Mac B. Kid Spy

A few days ago I posted about my "Grandma's Count-Down-to-Christmas Gifts" and how this year I'm going to give my grandsons books when they come to my house between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Some of the books will be puzzle books, some will be picture books and some will be fun chapter books which we will read together - even though two of my three grandsons are able to read for themselves.

Today I'm very happy to share with you my review of a fun chapter book sent to me by Scholastic Books - and announce a giveaway for one as well!

Mac Undercover - Mac B. Kid Spy
Author - Mac Barnett
Illustrator - Mike Lowery
Publisher - Orchard Books/Scholastic
Ages - 7-10

Favorite Features -
  • Fun story will capture the imagination of children and keep them reading to the end.
  • I like how throughout the story "Mac" tells the reader to "look it up" - great way to add learning about history and places to a story children will enjoy.
  • Illustrations are perfect for this book - really like the corgis . . . and so will a certain grandson I know and love!
Orchard Books/Scholastic says; "Before Mac Barnett was an author, he was a kid. And while he was a kid, he was a spy. Not just any spy. But a spy...for the Queen of England.

James Bond meets Diary of a Wimpy Kid with this groundbreaking fully-illustrated chapter book series Mac B., Kid Spy. The precious Crown Jewels have been stolen, and there's only one person who can help the Queen of England: her newest secret agent, Mac B. Mac travels around the globe in search of the stolen treasure...but will he find it in time?

From secret identities to Karate hi-jinks, this fast-paced, witty and historically inspired chapter book will keep readers guessing until the very last page. With full-color illustrations and fascinating historical facts masterfully sprinkled throughout, this series offers adventure, intrigue, absurdity, history and humor. Discover this totally smart and side-splittingly funny new series, and experience what it's really like to be a kid spy."

The idea of a "kid spy" traveling around the world, solving a mystery and capturing the thief is a story my grandsons are sure to enjoy! Mac Undercover - Mac B. Kid Spy is fun, funny and does a wonderful job of combining a story for children with history and geography in a clever way. Mac Undercover - Mac B. Kid Spy is a great book to gift to a young reader you love or to get and keep as a book you read together - a chapter or two, or three at a time! Either way, Mac Undercover - Mac B. Kid Spy is sure to be a "hit"!

I'm very happy to say not only did Scholastic Books send Mac Undercover - Mac B. Kid Spy for me to review and share my own opinion of it with you, but they are making another available for me to give away (USA only). If you are over the age of 18 and would like to enter this drawing for Mac Undercover - Mac B. 1. My grandson loves Diary of a Wimpy Kid books so I know he would love this no matter where the adventure goes...maybe his own backyard at the Air Force Academy. I follow on facebook and email.

  2. This will be great when my son gets old enough to read chapter books! He would also love space, but I think one around D.C. would be great! I follow on FB, email and Google. I have shared this post as well. Thanks!

  3. My oldest grandson would enjoy a spy adventure at the beach!
