2018 Christmas Gift Review & Giveaway - Douglas, You're a Genius!

My grandsons love dogs (in particular Huskies). They also love funny stories. If a book is successfully able to combine the two, I know it is a book they will love - whether the dog is a Husky or not.

I was recently invited by Random House Children's Books to review a new release which does this, and does it extremely well! Today I am very happy to share with you my review of, Douglas, You're a Genius!.

Douglas, You're a Genius!
Author/Illustrator - Ged Adamson
Publisher - Random House Children's Books
Ages - 3-7

Favorite Features -
  • This story is so much fun!
  • Love the illustrations - full of fun details which add to the story.
  • So glad for the Spanish Glossary at the beginning of the story.
  • Encourages conversations about making new friends, learning about different cultures and being a creative thinker.
Random House Children's Books says; "Laugh along with a dog named Douglas and his pal Nancy in this silly follow-up to Douglas, You Need Glasses! as the friends execute outrageous plans to meet their neighbors. Pals Nancy and Douglas think their baseball game is over after their ball rolls through a hole in the fence. But when the ball rolls back, followed by a note in an unfamiliar language, they have to discover who's on the other side of the fence. And so in a series of truly outrageous--and hilarious--stunts, Nancy tries to launch, vault, and fly Douglas over to the other side to see what's what. Finally, after all Nancy's plans fail, Douglas gets his turn to execute a plan--and it works! And who do they find? New friends who speak Spanish. Readers will laugh out loud at the antics in this zany picture book, which proves working together makes everything more fun."

I thoroughly enjoyed Douglas, You're a Genius! I love the story, illustrations and humor, but most importantly, the message. In a time when we do not get to know our neighbors, this book encourages children to not let "walls" - no matter how tall - keep us apart.

I'm very happy to say, Random House Children's Books sent me one copy of Douglas, You're a Genius! for me to review and they are making another available for me to give away (USA only). If you are over the age of 18 and would like to enter this drawing for Douglas, You're a Genius!which will be on November 15, 2018, please comment below to share your and your grandchildren's favorite book about a dog - my grandsons all enjoyed Clifford books when they were young, but of course, the classic - "Go Dogs, Go" is hard to beat!
