2018 Christmas Gift Review & Giveaway - Where's Waldo? The Spectacular Spotlight Search

With Christmas just a touch over two months away, I'm very happy to share with you today an idea and a review of one of the most fun books you could give to pretty much anyone five and older on your gift list. First, the idea. I typically have "count-down to Christmas gifts" which I give my grandsons between Thanksgiving and Christmas when they are at my house. When they were younger, these gifts were things like Matchbox cars, fun rocks, etc - simple, small things just for the fun of it.

This year I'm giving the boys a fun book for each of their "count-down to Christmas gifts", but it will be one book for the three of them to share each time. While this may not sound like a very great gift, the books will be fun stories or puzzle books - books they all are likely to enjoy. I will also add a fun rock and/or candy . . . because I'm grandma!

So, now for the book review . . . and yes, I get to give one away, too!

Where's Waldo? The Spectacular Spotlight Search
Author/Illustrator - Martin Handford
Publisher - Candlewick Press
Ages - 5-9 (and older, in my opinion)

Favorite Features -
  • Six pages of fun in this book!
  • There are so many things for children - and parents and grandparents - to find on each spread of pages.
  • Fun themes - with crazy illustrations, many will leave you laughing . . . silly robots, aliens and more.
  • "Spotlight Searcher" adds to the fun, and challenge, of finding Waldo.
Candlewick Press says; "Where’s Waldo? In the spotlight . . . somewhere! Now the rest of the scene has gone dark, finding him is a spectacular new challenge. Just when you thought you’d mastered the art of finding Waldo, along comes a whole new twist to tracking him down! In an innovative, all-paper design which simulates a traveling spotlight beam, each scene is completely dark until the savvy reader slides a wand underneath to 'light up' a small section. The trick is to carefully move the magic slider around until the right spot is revealed. Each of the six classic nighttime scenes contains Waldo and four other favorite characters to find, along with bonus hidden content and additional games on every page. With an exciting new format giving our wanderer the star treatment he deserves, The Spectacular Spotlight Search is a must-have for Waldo fans of all ages."

Where's Waldo? The Spectacular Spotlight Search is so much fun! I love the creative page designs, all the fun things to look for and the challenge of finding specific items - large and small. I know my grandsons are going to love this book for sure!

I'm very happy to say, Candlewick Press sent me one copy of Where's Waldo? The Spectacular Spotlight Search for me to review and they are making another available for me to give away (USA only). If you are over the age of 18 and would like to enter this drawing for Where's Waldo? The Spectacular Spotlight Searchwhich will be on November 20, 2018, please comment below to share a theme/setting which you think would be a fun design for a "Where's Waldo" - I think a trip to the zoo or a dog park is one my grandsons would enjoy!

In addition if you have followed on Google Friend Connect, followed by liking on facebook with the tab in the "Find us on Facebook" box ON THE BLOG or at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email you will receive one entry for each of these which you have done.
