Spring Gift Review & Giveaway on May 5, 2019 - Sam Wu Is Not Afraid of Sharks!

I am happy to share with you my opinion of two books from Sterling Children's Books - and announce a giveaway for one of them. First, a really fun picture book . . .

A Little Chicken
Author - Tammi Sauer
Illustrator - Dan Taylor
Publisher - Sterling Children's Books
Ages - 4+

Favorite Features -
  • A very fun story!
  • Wonderful, colorful, illustrations
  • Encourages conversations about being brave
Sterling Children's Books says; "Dot is a little chicken, who is, let’s face it, a little chicken. Can she find a way to pluck up her courage?  Dot is scared of lots of things: wolves, bears, the occasional lawn ornament. But when one of her mother’s eggs rolls out of the nest, this nervous chick must find the courage to save the day—and her new sibling! So she bravely ventures down the steep hill, into the deep pond, and into the dark woods. Perfect for any kid who needs a little encouragement to face the challenging world, this story proves sometimes a big hero is just a little chicken."

What a fun play on words making a story children will love, and learn from, and grandparents/parents will be more than happy to read as many times as the children they love want to hear it . . . which will be a lot! Tammi Sauer does not disappoint with this fun new story - definitely add it to your library!

Now, for another fun book from Sterling Children's Books, which I also get to give away!

Sam Wu Is Not Afraid of Sharks!
Authors - Katie & Kevin Tsang
Illustrator - Nathan Reed
Publisher - Sterling Children's Books
Ages - 7-12 years old

Favorite Features -
  • Fun story with humor young readers will enjoy
  • Illustrations are perfect for a chapter book for young readers
  • Great book for starting conversations about being brave and what to do if being bullied
Sterling Children's Books says; "Sam Wu is not afraid of sharks. Except . . . he is. Can Sam conquer his fear before he misses out on his friends’ beach party fun? On a class trip to the aquarium, certified ghost hunter Sam Wu encounters something even scarier than ghosts: Crazy Charlie, a giant shark, who TOTALLY tries to eat him. Sam has no intentions of taking any more chances with these people-eating creatures. But then his classmates Regina and Ralph announce they’re having a birthday bash . . . on the BEACH! Can Sam overcome his terror of becoming shark bait? This second book in the Sam Wu series is a funny, touching, and charming story of finding your courage when the moment comes—because bravery is something you have to prove again and again."

My seven-year old grandsons loves this book. Did I say, "loves"? I should have said, "LOVES"! This is the same grandson who a year ago told me he would never read unless he had to! But now, this book is in my car where my grandson reads it over and over again whenever he rides anyplace with us. Sam Wu Is Not Afraid of Sharksis a fun story to read aloud and a great book for young readers to read on their own.
