Our Grandchildren Are Meant to Be & We Are Meant to Make a Difference!

Did you know studies show the average child attends church, at best, one hour every other week. This means they are only receiving about 26 hours a year of your church's programming. Yes, I said 26 hours a year! Even the children who are there every week, still only receive about 52 hours a year. I'm sure you agree it is insufficient in either case.

The leaders in your church's Children's Ministry are not able to be with the children you love all the time - this is why God gave the primary responsibility for reaching and discipling children to their parents and grandparents. So, today I want to write about something important. We grandparents must make handing down a heritage of faith to our grandchildren a priority.

Steven Curtis Chapman wrote a song a few years ago called, Meant to Be. I won’t put all of the lyrics here – take a moment to look them up on-line – but I will share a few lines . . .
“Long before you drew your first breath, a dream was coming true. God wanted to give a gift to the world, so He wrapped it up in you! Every step that you’ve taken, every move that you make, is part of His plan! You were meant to be touching the lives that you touch. And meant to be here making this world so much more than it would be without you in it . . . You are perfectly, wonderfully, beautifully meant to be!”
I love this song because along with telling my grandchildren how much they are loved by me, it reminds me to tell them the most important message of how much God loves them and how He has a great plan for their lives! They are perfectly, wonderfully, beautifully meant to be and it is a message I absolutely give my grandsons!

Please know we grandparents do make a huge impact upon our grandchildren. It does matter what we say and do around these sweet blessings from God - more than you may even know!
