Our February Book of the Month - Pass the Legacy

On my other blog - Grandmas with Heart, we have a Book of the Month. Today I am very happy to let you know of our February Book of the Month which is available to help you be a grandparent who hands down the faith - a book from one of our own Grandmas with Heart - Cathy Jacobs. PASS THE LEGACY: 7 Keys for Grandparents Making a Difference .

Is there breath in you? Then KNOW God has a plan for you! If we are over 55 or 60 years of age, our culture tells us our importance in life has diminished. Yet, God's plan is for us to run the race set before us until our final breath - and to run it well. There is no "retirement" in God's Kingdom. This is true for "grandmas" and "grandpas" as well. It is equally true for "grown-mas" and "grown-pas" who are parents with grown children. Each of us has the God-given job of passing a legacy of faith in Christ to our children and grandchildren.

We live in a tumultuous world. Our families are bombarded daily with cultural messages which are hostile to God's truths. As grandparents and "grown" parents, it is urgent for us to share our God-stories with our loved ones. When we speak Biblical truths into our children and grandchildren's lives, we are giving them tools necessary to face the ups and downs of life with wisdom, strength and grace. If we don't, who will?

Many "G-mas" and "G-pas" are eager to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with their families. However, these Baby Boomers feel ill-equipped and unprepared for such a task. There are "Seven Keys" these family leaders are able to follow which empower Baby Boomers to raise spiritual champions in the future generations of their family so each member lives according to God's plan for their life.

The first three keys focus upon your relationship with the Lord. These keys are surrendering your life to the Lord, delving daily into God's Word and becoming prayer warriors on behalf of your children and grandchildren. The last four keys are centered upon your relationship with these important family members; pursuing healthy relationships with your loved ones and when necessary, mending broken relationships are fourth and fifth keys. The sixth key is to write letters, journals and blessings to your children and grandchildren with the final key all about becoming intentional when it comes to passing your faith to your loved ones in the midst of a very demanding culture.

If you want to learn more about these keys, grab Catherine's book, PASS THE LEGACY: 7 Keys for Grandparents Making a DifferenceIn this book, not only does Cathy delve into each key, she also offers various practical tips on implementing each key. Go to her website, passthelegacy.com or to catherinejacobsbooks.com  for information on purchasing a book.

Are you a "g-ma" or "g-pa" who is still breathing? Then know it is the heart-felt plan of the Lord for you to pass a God-centered legacy to your grandchildren and grown children. Grab these Seven Keys and prepare to run your race.
