grandma's cookbook. . . Homemade PB Eggs!

DSC_0850Okay, I admit it, I LOVE Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and when they are available as "eggs" for Easter . . . well, what isn't there to absolutely enjoy?!!! :^)  So, when I found a recipe on Pinterest to make them myself, I had to share it with you!

Ingredients -
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 - 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 Tablespoon shortening
Directions -
  1. mix together sugar, peanut butter and butter.
  2. add milk a tablespoon at a time until it is a workable dough - like play dough - and shape into eggs
  3. freeze for one hour
  4. place chocolate chips and shortening in a glass measuring cup and microwave for one minute at a time, stirring in between until completely melted
  5. dip each egg into melted chocolate to completely cover
  6. place on waxed paper or foil which has been sprayed with non-stick spray
  7. allow to set - I'm going to put them in the freezer!
  8. ENJOY!!!! :^)
I fully expect these will be a huge "hit" with my family . . . they all LOVE Reeses PB Cups! As you make these with your grandchildren, be sure to talk with them about "sweet" things. Ask them what the "sweetest" thing is someone has ever done for them and then ask them what the "sweetest" thing is they've ever done for someone else. Help them prepare a package of the eggs they made to give to someone to brighten their day - and be sure to pray with them for the person to whom they give the eggs.
