grandma's cookbook - Butternut Squash Bread!

This is the time of year to look for, find, and use butternut squash. If you find one, here is a recipe to use it to make bread. You'll find the recipe at this link and I changed it in the following ways . . .

  • I use butternut squash - which I cook with a little apple just for the fun of it - and the extra flavor!
  • I do not use the vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg or cloves as I do not want a "dessert" flavor to the bread.
As you knead, mix your bread you may need to add more flour, just add a bit at a time to make sure the dough ball works the flour in, until the dough ball is not sticky and looks like it has enough flour.

The finished bread will smell amazing, be so tall, so soft, so tasty . . . just wonderful!

Enjoy!
