As Covid Comes to an End Teach Both the "What" & the "Why"

My husband and I are fully vaccinated, but since our youngest grandsons are not yet able to be vaccinated, we are continuing to wear masks, keep distance, and are staying away from gatherings of people outside our immediate family. We will not risk exposing our grandsons to covid, so since we have been so careful the last year, what are a few more months until they are able to be vaccinated?

But, because we are not able to go to in-person church, we are intentional about providing opportunities for our grandsons to develop a confident faith at our house. When the boys are at our house for sleepover on Saturdays, we put our church's morning service on and we all are able to see/hear it. We are also working through our Life on the Goldilocks Planet books - as we learn how all of creation shows design, and this helps us be able to confidently believe in God as He is the Designer, we have great conversations - and a lot of fun, too!

If your church is removing mask mandates and you do not feel comfortable with the risk of exposing your grandchildren, then it is more important than ever for us to find opportunities to hand down confident faith to the children we love. When we teach them what we believe, we are handing down faith. When we teach them why they are able to believe it, we are handing down confident faith. We must do both - teach the "what" and the "why" and as we get closer to the point where we are able to move on from covid, it is the perfect time to start doing this - if we have not already been doing so - or continue to do so if we have.
