Wisdom Is . . .

As a grandma who is committed to handing down the faith, one of the things I talk about with my grandsons is what it means to make wise choices. I want them to know what it means to be wise, where they are able to find wisdom, and be people who choose to live in a wise way.

God wants all of us to be people who make the choice to be wise - and He wants us to ask Him for wisdom as well. Look at James 1:5 -

If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won’t correct you for asking.

Talk with your grandchildren about how God will help us be wise and make wise choices when we ask Him for help. Explain how when they act in wise ways they will make choices now which they will be happy about later. Share with them how wisdom brings peace to their lives and to the lives of others as well.

This is one of the most important conversations we will ever have with our grandchildren. After they make the choice to believe in Jesus, we want them to grow to be wise people. When God gave Solomon the choice to have anything he wanted and he chose wisdom, God was pleased and told him he had made the best choice.

We want our grandchildren to make the best choice, too! When we model being wise, it makes it even easier for them to make the choice to be wise as well.

So, be sure you ask God for wisdom, then model to your grandchildren what it looks like to live life as a wise person. God has promised to give us - and our grandchildren - wisdom when we ask - be sure you ask!
