This week I'm taking a moment each day to laugh at some of the silly laws - which are still actual laws - from each state in our country . . . today we will see some silly laws from Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Nebraska, New Jersey and New Hampshire, so get ready to laugh! Each of these laws are still laws . . . some do make sense, others will just leave you scratching your head, wondering why anyone ever thought they had a need for such a law in the first place! (I found the silly laws at this link.)
- Mississippi . . . One may be fined up to $100 for using profane language in public.
- Missouri . . . It is illegal to drive with an uncaged bear.
- Montana . . . Guiding sheep onto a railroad track with the intent of harming a train is subject up to a fine of up to $50,000 and serving at most, five years in prison.
- Nevada . . . It is illegal to drive a camel on the highway.
- Nebraska . . . It is illegal for a mother to give her daughter a perm without a state license.
- New Jersey . . . It is against the law for a man to knit during the fishing season.
- New Hampshire . . . As of 1973 it is illegal to carry away or collect seaweed at night.
So, which of these laws did you find to be the funniest? I have to say the New Jersey law about it being illegal for a man to knit during the fishing season to be funny - I did laugh when I read it.
