I love this quote from Stormie Omartian - "As you pray for your (grand)children, you will find it to be an unending habit of your heart." An, "unending habit of your heart", what could possibly be better?
When the ones we love know no matter what comes their way - challenges or blessings - their grandma (and grandpa/ parents) will be praying, this sends a truly powerful message and sets an example for them to follow. Even more powerful is when we teach the children we love to be people who develop an, "unending habit of their heart" to be people who talk with God. This is why it is not only important, but it is absolutely essential for us to equip and teach them to be people who talk with God on their own.
We need to teach this while they are young, so it becomes an, "unending habit of their heart". Put resources in their hands which will help them with this - one excellent resource, specifically designed to help children ages four through fourteen learn to talk with God is the book Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Children - is there possibly a better way to spend your time? Particularly if it helps the children you love learn to be people who have an, "unending habit of their heart" to be people who talk with God?
No matter what, come what may, make praying for your grandchildren/children part of what you do each day, so you develop an, "unending habit of your heart" as someone who talks with God. Then faithfully model, equip and teach the children you love so they have an, "unending habit of their heart" as people who talk with God.
