It is NOT Supposed to Be Like This

I had plans for my posts for today, but after the shooting in Uvalde, Texas yesterday, I am only able to write the following . . .

It is not supposed to be like this. People who are so filled with hate, anger, pain, are not supposed to take a gun and kill others - especially children in school.

It is not supposed to be like this. Children and teachers should not have to fear going to school.

It is not supposed to be like this. Parents and grandparents should have to fear sending the children they love to school.

It is not supposed to be like this. People should not be afraid to go to the grocery store - or anywhere - because someone will shoot them due to the color of their skin.

It is not supposed to be like this. We should not have to turn on the news to hear the horrific news of such loss, pain, sorrow - and know because people who are able to do something, will probably not do it.

I am able to imagine what it would be like if this happened in my grandsons' school - and the thought is heartbreaking. So, yes, I pray for the families and community in Uvalde. I am able to imagine what it is like to be afraid someone may shoot you or someone you love because of the color of your skin, so I pray for the families and community in Buffalo. These dear people whose lives have been shattered need to know they are not alone and so many of us are grieving along with them. They need the comfort which is available to them from God.

Last night before I went to bed I posted to my own facebook asking when will "enough" be enough? I asked how is this not "enough"? Nineteen children and two teachers are dead and more are in the hospital. Please pray for the children and staff, the parents, and grandparents. Ten people died a week ago in Buffalo. Please do pray for the families and community. I do believe prayers make a difference, but please also commit to pay attention. If you see or hear of someone making threats, say something. Do all you are able to do to support those you know who struggle with mental illness. Commit to hold your elected officials accountable. Commit to support those you love and to be available for your community in whatever ways you are able.

I do not really know how to end this post. I have no words of wisdom to offer other than to pray, because prayer does make a difference, and to do all you are able to do to make things they way they are supposed to be for the children, families, and communities where you live, across the country, and around the world.
