Have a Purpose & Plan for 2022 - Part Two

Yesterday I wrote about what my husband and I are doing this year to hand confident faith to our grandsons. I shared how we are making Lamentations 3:21-23 our focus in 2023.

Today I'm writing about the second thing we want to focus on with them . . . helping them become people who know the "whys" - why they are able to believe God is real, the Bible is true, God and science do go together, and God is good.

Barna's studies clearly show us if the ones we love begin to doubt these four things, more and more of them are turning away from their faith to atheism. We have traditionally taught the children we love the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore what we believe, but we have not taught them the "whys". If they do not know why they are able to believe, they may turn from their faith.

To help us teach them the "whys", we are using my Life on the Goldilocks Planet series of books, the little answer book for children, and my new Anchored curriculum. We also talk often about the "whys" - I am always watching for opportunities to bring a "why" into our conversations. For example, the other day we were talking about coding and if they were able to have something which was "coded" without having someone who was the "coder". I asked my grandsons if they knew how coding helps us know God is real. My youngest grandson told me it was because of DNA. He said our DNA shows we are "coded" which means we have to have someone who is our "Coder". I asked him and his brother how they knew this and they said because I told them this before. Apparently they have been listening and they do remember!

So, along with our hopes for 2023, we are focusing upon helping our grandchildren walk closely with God by learning to live Lamentations 3:21-23 in their lives and learning the "whys" for their faith . . . we do have great hope for 2023!

What are you doing this year to focus upon handing confident faith to your grandchildren and to help them love, know, and have a confident faith throughout 2023? If you do not have a plan to do this, absolutely consider using the resources mentioned in this post (available on Amazon and our bookstore.)

If we do not get a plan and focus upon implementing the plan, 2023 is likely to slip by without us handing down confident faith in a purposeful way. Having a plan matters - and implementing it matters even more. Get a plan and commit to it - then watch what happens in 2023!
