His Only Son - Coming to Theaters March 30, 2023 & a $10 Amazon Card Giveaway!

I was invited to preview and review the new movie - His Only Son, so today I'm doing exactly this - and letting you know about an Amazon $10 card giveaway.

His Only Son is rated PG-13 and I would not recommend taking children younger than 13 as the pace of the movie is very slow - children are likely to lose interest and become distracted. Plus, the murder of a dad and strongly implied rape of his daughter by soldiers is not appropriate for children - of any age. And, not only is it strongly implied the soldiers raped the girl, these soldiers threaten to take Isaac and give him to other soldiers to "take the girl's place." I absolutely do not understand why these scenes were included in this movie, am honestly disgusted by them, and because of them, I do not recommend His Only Son. 

While most of His Only Son seems to stick to Scripture, and I understand the need to "fill in gaps" for "storyline", I did not appreciate the dialog between one of the servants and Abraham and absolutely do not see how the soldiers needed to be part of the movie - they certainly are not part of Scripture. I also found the "flashback" scenes to ultimately be distracting - maybe just making a movie which showed Abraham and Sarah in time-line order would have moved more quickly and worked more smoothly. 

I did appreciate the message of how God keeps His promises and nothing is too hard for Him.
