We may feel like our prayers do not even make it through the ceiling above us and do not know what to say or how to pray. Our lives are busy, so finding the time to pray can be a challenge which we may not overcome and then days go by without us spending time in prayer.

<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif"><span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">Yet, we know prayer is important. We know, especially in this day and age, we - and our grandchildren (and children) need all the prayer they can get. We want to be people who pray; and people who pray deeply, but are not sure how to be this kind of person.
<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">
<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">Well, please allow me to help you. I understand these feelings about prayer and struggled many years to be a person who prayed. Then one Sunday I heard Dr. Ed Dobson preach about how the best way to pray is to pray Scripture. This made sense to me, so being a writer, I started at Genesis and worked my way through the Bible to Revelation. Whenever I came to a passage I could pray, I wrote it out as a personalized Scripture prayer and divided it into seven parts, so I would be able to pray the passage more deeply by praying each portion over a week's time. <span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">This allowed me to pray regularly and to pray Scripture more deeply by spending a week praying through each passage!

<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">When I became a grandma, I went back through these personalized Scripture prayers and added a prayer for my grandchildren (and children). I combined these prayers into three books, so far. One takes Scripture passages from the Old Testament and provides 52 weeks of personalized Scripture prayers for me to pray for myself, my adult children and my grandchildren. Another is focused on praying passages from the Book of Psalms and provides 52 weeks of personalized Scripture prayers as well. The third takes Scripture from the Old and New Testament is focuses prayer for a month on one passage.
<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">
<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">So, even though we are a few months into 2024, I'd like to challenge and encourage you to commit to be a grandparent (parent) who prays the Scripture more deeply for yourself and for the people you love. We do not know what 2024 holds for us; the world seems to be very unsettled, to say the least. But, we do know Who holds the future and we are able to be people who talk with Him every day! We are able to be people who lift up those we love, every day in focused, deep prayer!
<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">
<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">You will find my books at these links -

Praying Deeper Through the Scriptures: For the Children You Love Who Walk With God & Those Who Do Not - print copy at this link, kindle ebook at this link, Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Grandparents & Parents, Too!: Praying the Scriptures for the Children You Love - print copy at this link, kindle ebook at this link, and Praying Deeper Through the Old Testament for Grandparents & Parents, Too!: Praying the Scriptures for the Children You Love - print copy at this link, kindle ebook at this link.

<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">Each of the print copies sell for $12.99 (and shipping) and each kindle ebook sells for $9.99.
<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">
<span face=""verdana" , sans-serif">Make 2024 the year where you pray deeply for your walk and for your grandchildren and children, too!
Lynda Freemanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04008178991090531599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1287981649889319801.post-25602016444901664952024-03-18T06:50:00.000-04:002024-03-18T06:50:01.785-04:00The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - "Only You Can Control Your Future!"

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "Only you can control your future!" Well . . . we do have some "say" over our future, as we can decide if we are going to move forward on something or not, but we do not have "control" over our futures. There is very little in life which we can actually "control", but the good news is God has a plan for our future! This is incredibly good news . . . look at Jeremiah 29:11, "I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope." We can not "control" today or tomorrow, but this does not need to cause us to be afraid or to worry, because God has a plan for our future! I'd rather know God has a plan for my future - one which fills it with hope - than to try and "control" even a moment of my future! It connects us with the generations who came before us; as well as with those who come behind. It is the core of who we are physically.

Yes, our physical DNA tells our cells and bodies how to Develop, Live and Reproduce, but let's think for a moment about another type of "DNA". A Spiritual DNA. More specifically, our "Faith and Prayer DNA". What are a, "Faith and Prayer DNA" you ask? Well, just as our physical DNA provides the code for how our bodies develop, live and reproduce, our "Faith and Prayer DNA" gives us the code or instructions which help us learn to develop a strong walk of faith, live as people who believe and reproduce by handing down to our children and our children's children a strong and confident walk of faith.

The DNA of Grandparents & Parents Who Hand Down Confident Faith will introduce you to people from the Bible - including Hannah, David, Jeremiah, Elisha, Jesus, Job, Joseph, the Kings of Judah, the Prodigal Son's Father and our own Heavenly Father, people from time - such as George Muller, Billy Graham, Fanny & Eunice Crosby, Elisabeth Elliot, Joni, Corrie Ten Boom, Martin & Katherine Luther, Charles Spurgeon and Dwigh L. Moody and people from today - including my friends Teresa Holmgren who shared how God answered her prayers for a child and then for a grandchild, Brad Burkhead who shared what it is like when your grown children and grandchildren move to Africa to be missionaries, my friend Ragaee Daniel shared how God saved him from an Egyptian prison, and my friend Janae Dean who shared the powerful account of how God gave life back to her son when he was dead; all these accounts show us what it looked like for them to develop this strong and healthy "Faith and Prayer DNA". This is also so very true when working with children, we need to say and do what we mean and mean what we say and do!

Be sure to point this out to your grandchildren, too! Help them understand they can make the choice to be faithful like Jesus by saying and doing what they mean and meaning what they say and do. Be sure to take a moment to pray for each grandchild by name - "Thank You God for loving _____ so much You sent Jesus to show him/her how to be faithful! He was a "normal boy with a strange name", but he chose to love and know God, even when bad things (being kidnapped by pirates and sold as slave in a different country) happened to him. He was in a country where the people around him were pagans and did not know God, yet he chose to continue to love and know God, even though he "was very far from home and very lonely." He prayed more than 100 times a day and grew very close to God! Eventually, he ended up back home where he continued to grow closer to God. He finished school and then became a bishop in his church. Eventually he returned to Ireland as a missionary to tell the people about God and the people of Ireland turned to God because of the work of St. Patrick.

Challenge your grandchildren to make the choice to love and know God like St. Patrick did. Help them learn about missionaries who are telling people around the world about God today and involve them in projects where they are able to show God's love to others like with Samaritan's Purse's Children's Heart Project. Help them know the story of St. Patrick so as people around the celebrate, they are able to understand how the real story of St. Patrick is one of choosing to love and know God - no matter what!
Lynda Freemanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04008178991090531599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1287981649889319801.post-41386788103885267842024-03-15T06:54:00.002-04:002024-03-15T06:54:49.141-04:00Resources to Help You Pass on Your Faith - It Is Impossible to Spoil Grandchildren

Have you been reading grandma's cookie jar and agree with me when I write about passing on a heritage of faith to your grandchildren, but are not sure where and how to begin? With warmth, wit, and sincerity she shows grandparents it’s more than OK to lavishly love on their grandchildren. She shares how to pour into their lives and make the positive impact only a grandparent can make. It’s the kind which doesn’t spoil a child. It’s a love which helps strengthen and shape the heart and character of your grandchildren. As a mom, I read the book daydreaming about the decades ahead when I’ll be a grandmother and able to share this special bond with my future grandchildren. Knowing the love which is to come via my grandchildren makes watching my children grow up so quickly a little bit easier. It also freed me from worrying my Mother was lavishing too much on my sons or perhaps stealing a little of my thunder. My worry has been replaced by knowing there’s special room for each of us! This is the perfect book to purchase for yourself as a grandparent, give to anyone you know who is, or is about to become, a grandparent, or share with a mom who’s worried Grandma or Grandpa's love might interfere with the parent's relationship with the child. Don't Worry: It Is Impossible to Spoil Grandchildren is an uplifting, freeing, and valuable book for every family!”

Maralee McKee

Author, The Gracious Mom’s Guide to Manners

Founder , Www.MannersMentor.com

Check it out and get Don't Worry: It Is Impossible to Spoil Grandchildren - work through it yourself or with friends!
Lynda Freemanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04008178991090531599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1287981649889319801.post-91191910618682799292024-03-15T06:53:00.001-04:002024-03-15T06:53:46.114-04:00The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today is - The More That You Read . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. If someone does not speak up and ask others to join them, how will grandparents, parents, and church leaders know there is a way to stop what is happening?

It has been clear in polls from the last twenty years we were losing the next generation, but we are still doing things the same way we have done them for the past forty years - and we are losing the next generation at double the rate of any previous generation. This has to stop. We must step up, prioritize handing down confident faith, and learn the answers so we are able to have meaningful conversations with the ones we love.

I personally have experienced this in my family as ones I love turned away from their faith. But I am not content to do nothing. I developed resources to address the issues Barna identified as the primary reasons we are losing the next generations (read about it at this link and this link.) I want my grandsons to know God is real, understand the truth about how science and God go together, be able to believe God is good, and know the Bible is true, so I wrote resources to help them learn these things.

The truth matters and we need to know the truth. This does not mean we have to be theologians, scientists, philosophers, or apologists, but we do need to find answers. We do need to know the "whys", so we are able to teach them as part of a firm foundation we set for the ones we love, and so we are able to answer their questions if they have already turned from their faith. This is the purpose for my books - the little answer book and the little answer book for children - to help you equip the children you love so they discover the "whys" for their faith.

In the little answer book for children the children you love will participate in activities, science projects, think about important questions, and journal their answers, as they do these things they will learn the "whys" for their faith, and find they are able to have a confident faith! Is there anything more important for them to learn?

And, if you have grandchildren who are starting to doubt if God is real and the Bible is true, who question if God is good and if science disproves the Bible, this little book will help them understand the truth and provide the opportunity for you to have important conversations with them.

We do not have to sit by and watch the ones we love leave the faith. We are able to equip them to have confident faith because they know the "whys" and we are able to have important conversations with those who have turned away. We just need the resources to help us do these things and these two books are exactly this - the resources you need.

And, if your church is interested in using the little answer book for children to help parents and grandparents hand down confident faith, check this link for how they are able to do so for just $1 per family.
Lynda Freemanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04008178991090531599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1287981649889319801.post-68235844320008275102024-03-14T06:33:00.001-04:002024-03-14T06:33:55.403-04:00Today is National Learn About Butterflies Day

Spring is nearly upon us - although a look out my window tells me it is here as I see flowers blooming, trees budding, grass greening, and birds all around - which since I live in Michigan, this is significant! Since today is National Learn About Butterflies Day, I thought it would be a wonderful time to once again encourage anyone who lives here or will be visiting during this time, to make time to visit as you will definitely be able to learn more about butterflies if you do! font-size: large;">The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple!" In many aspects of life we do often "complicate" things when they could be significantly more simple, so I'd have to agree with this saying from Dr. Seuss! One things we might "complicate" is our relationship to God. Sometimes we think we have to be good, do good things and think good thoughts if we are going to have a relationship with God, yet God Himself tells us in Romans 3:23, "All of us have sinned and fallen short of God's glory." None of us are good. We are all sinners. On our own, we fall short of God's glory. This is horrible news because on our own we can not do anything to have a relationship with God. We might try to earn it by being "good", but we can never be good enough. Thank God, He chose to make a relationship with Him possible for us! Romans 6:23 tells us, "Sin pays off with death. But God's gift is eternal life given by Jesus Christ our Lord." Just look at Romans 10:9.10; "So you will be saved, if you honestly say, 'Jesus is Lord,' and if you believe with all your heart that God raised him from death." We just have to honesty say, "Jesus is Lord" and believe with all our heart God raised Jesus from the dead! This is it! It isn't complicated! It is amazingly simple! It is a gift from God, one we can not earn! So, if you have never received this gift and have been trying to "complicate" things by earning what can never be earned, just accept the gift God so freely offers because, "the answer is simple!"

Be sure to point this out to your grandchildren, too! I know for me there is nothing more important than for my grandsons to make the choice to know and walk with God all their lives! I want them to accept God's amazing gift! Be sure to explain God's simple plan for your grandchildren to be able to know and walk with Him and then lead them in thanking and praising God for His awesome gift! Give them an opportunity to respond to the gift as well! Be sure to take a moment to pray for each grandchild by name - "Thank You God for Your great gift! Please help _____ know he/she can not earn knowing You, but rather is is a gift they can accept! Please help him/her want to know and walk with You all his/her life!
