The Wattle Square for Your Afghan

Blue Ribbon Afghans from America's State Fairs: 40 Prize-Winning Crocheted DesignsI have another square for your afghan today, so if you are working on the crocheted afghan project with your grandchildren, this will add to your project! Again, this project is built from the the "Sweet Baby Afghan Sampler" from the book, Blue Ribbon Afghans from America's State Fairs.

Directions -

  • ch 27
  • Row 1: sk 2 ch (counts as a sc) *work (1sc 1ch and 1 dc) into next ch sk 2 ch; rep from * ending with 1 sc into last ch - turn
  • Row 2: ch 1 (counts as a sc) sk first sc and next dc * work (1 sc 1 ch and 1 dc) into next ch sp sk 1 sc and 1 dc; rep from * ending with (1sc 1ch and 1dc) into last ch sp sk next sc 1 sc into top of turning ch - turn
  • repeat row 2 until work measures approximately 9 inches
If you have been making each of the squares for this afghan, this should be the 11th square - you are nearly half way through the project! Again, as always, be sure to take time to talk with your grandchild as you work on this afghan. Find out what is happening in their life and take time to pray with them.
