grandma's cookbook - Simple and Tasty Goulash!

Goulash is a dish everyone has their own "take" on . . . my recipe is very simple, yet tasty . . . and it is even better when it is warmed up and enjoyed the following day for leftovers!

Ingredients -

  • pasta - I like using small sea shells - one box
  • spaghetti sauce - use whatever brand you like or make your own
  • ground beef - about 1lb
  • shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
Directions -
  • bring water to a boil, then cook pasta according to the directions on the box
  • while pasta cooks, brown ground beef and season to taste
  • strain and return pasta to the pan
  • add a touch of butter if you like :-)
  • add ground beef
  • add spaghetti sauce - as much as you like
  • add approximately 1 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • add approximately 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • add parmesan cheese to your taste
  • optional - add any other ingredients you might like - olives, mushrooms, onions, peppers, etc - but I'm kinda boring in my food tastes so I do not add any of these things!
  • simmer on low on your stove top to warm through and melt the cheeses
  • enjoy!
This is a fun recipe to make with your grandchildren - they can add the sauce, cheeses and stir . . . and of course, one of the most important ways to help . . . taste! Be sure to thank them for their help and ask them what they can do this week to help others. One of the best things about this recipe is getting your grandchildren to help you make it!
