Fun, Last-Minute, Simple Christmas Craft!

I was browsing through Pinterest last week and happened to find a great, simple craft idea which would be a fun thing for grandchildren to make at their grandma's house Christmas Sunday! All you need are a few simple - and tasty - supplies!

Supplies -

  • paper lunch bags - one per grandchild
  • ribbon - red, green, Christmas print - whatever you have
  • snowflake cut outs - or give your grandchildren some white paper and help them make their own small snowflakes!
  • paper punch
  • two-sided tape
  • printed text . . . "As you hold these candies in your hand, turn them and you will see, The M becomes a W, an E becomes a 3. They tell the Christmas Story; it's one I'm sure you know. It took place in a stable a long, long time ago. The E is for the East where the star shone so bright. The M is for the Manger, where Baby Jesus slept that night. The 3 is for the Wise men, bearing gifts they say they came. The W is for Worship; Hallelujah, Praise His Name! So, as you eat these candies, or share them with a friend, remember the meaning of Christmas, it's a love story which never ends!
  • and of course, you'll need red and green m&m's!
Directions -
  • hand each grandchild a paper lunch bag, have them open it and fold the top down about four inches
  • about an inch from the fold, punch a hole through each layer
  • help your grandchildren fold and cut small snowflakes - each child will need one
  • hand out the text and help children tape to the front of their bags - be sure to read and talk about it with your grandchildren
  • hand out red and green m&m's - sure to be the children's favorite part of the craft - and have grandchildren place them inside their bag
  • show your grandchildren how to string ribbon through the holes they punched and through the middle of their snowflake - tie a bow!
You could have your grandchildren each make two - one to keep and one to give away! Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
