grandma's bookshelf . . . Oh No, George . . . I'm Giving One Away!

I'm going to start this review out by saying, I absolutely LOVE this book! If you only get one new book for your grandchildren this year, make it Oh No, George! (This book releases on March 13th)

Oh No, George!
Author/Illustrator - Chris Haughton
Publisher - Candlewick Press
Ages - 4-7

Favorite Features -
  • short, simple story
  • provides the opportunity to have important conversations with your grandchildren about obeying and what to do when you do not obey; how to ask for forgiveness, how to forgive and how to try again!
  • I LOVE how George says, "I want to be good, but I LOVE cake . . . " What do you think happens next?!!!! :^)
  • I LOVE, LOVE how George is sorry for not being "good", asks for forgiveness, tries to make restitution and then shows he can make good choices!!!
  • I found the ending very fun . . . gives you and your grandchildren the opportunity to decide what George does . . . does he decide to be good, or not???
While I didn't love the illustrations . . . too much orange and red . . . I couldn't love this story more! It has humor and solid messages and is a story which you can involve your grandchildren in helping to tell . . . have them say, "What will George do?" on each of the pages where this question is asked! Be sure to use the opportunity to talk with your grandchildren about what to do when they do not obey or do what they say they will do, forgiveness and starting over! This is a completely fun and engaging story . . . it even had the adults laughing as we read it with Josiah!!!!

I could not be more delighted than to announce not only did Candlewick Press make one book available for me to review, but they are also making another available for me to give away!!!!! Hooray!!!!
