the American Bible Challenge!

What do you get when you combine the Bible, a competition, Jeff Foxworthy, a Gospel Choir and money for charities? The American Bible Challenge! This is a new show on the Game Show Network premiering on Thursday, August 23, 2012! They say, "Comedian and author, Jeff Foxworthy hosts this studio-based game in which contestants compete based on their knowledge of the Bible.  Utilizing current as well as historical references, questions will be drawn from the rich, dense narrative found in the world's best-selling book.  The contestants will share their compelling back-stories and each team will be playing for a charitable organization."

After a nationwide casting call, there are 18 teams ready to compete for the opportunity to win money for their charities which include, Samaritan's PurseMinnie's Food PantryOasis (works to end human trafficking), the Hope Center (helps homeless people) and more. Jeff Foxworthy said, "It's just cool seeing people come and, within the course of an hour, win money to help change someone else's life. That's a neat thing to be a part of."

I love the idea of the American Bible Challenge . . . and I appreciate how they are showing a commitment to paying attention to God's Word and presenting it in a respectful and fun way which will capture the attention and interest of those who watch! I especially love the idea of having the constants compete not to enrich themselves, but to serve and help others!

Check their web-site for some fun video clips, interviews and comments by Jeff and even some free downloads then please help spread the word! Consider hosting an American Bible Challenge party at your home, pop up a big bowl of popcorn and invite your grandchildren - and the rest of your family, too, your friends and neighbors for an evening of Bible trivia, learning about some wonderful charities and fun!

And please keep an eye out for a clip with a little girl telling about Adam and Eve! (The American Bible Challenge asked us for permission to use one of our videos on their show . . . so if you see it, please let me know!)

I'm happy to say not only have I been asked to let you know about the American Bible Challenge, but they are making available an American Bible Challenge t-shirt and Zondervan NIV Quest Study Bible for me to give away on my other blog - About the Children's Department (USA only)! Check the link for the details!
