grandma's cookbook - Herbed Chicken

If you are looking for a way to fix chicken which is flavorful, healthy and simple, check this recipe! All you need is chicken - I use boneless, skinless breasts, but you can use any part of the chicken - apples, herbs, a bit of butter and a slow-cooker!

Place your chicken in the slow-cooker, sprinkle generously with herbs - I used rosemary, basil, thyme and marjoram - cut apples in half and remove cores then place around the chicken, add a bit of butter and 1 1/2 - 2 cups of water. Cover and cook for six hours. Not only will your home be filled with a wonderful aroma as the chicken cooks, but you will end up with tender, flavorful chicken which your whole family can enjoy! Add mashed potatoes - the broth makes amazing gravy - fresh bread from the bread machine, peas - or any veggie - and you have a wonderful meal . . . the left-over chicken and broth can be used for homemade soup the next day! This chicken dinner is perfect for when you have company as it takes little time to prepare, but the "pay-off" is wonderful! Enjoy!

Oh, and I had chocolate cake topped with chocolate pudding and whipping cream for dessert . . . a perfect end to a tasty meal! :-)
