crafting with grandma - Another Crocheted Purse!

Well . . . I've been posting give-aways for a week . . . since I don't want you to get bored with all my give-away posts, I thought I'd write a post about the purse I made for my mom for her birthday!

I recently posted about a purse I made for myself, so since my mom's birthday was coming up and I was having her and my dad to my home for a birthday dinner, I thought I'd make a purse for her, too! I have been wanting to try the crocodile stitch, so I thought making one square with the crocodile stitch would give the purse a unique and fun look! (Check this link for the free pattern) I used Red Heart Anne Geddes Baby Yarn-BluejayRed Heart Super Tweed Yarn-Pink Berry and Red Heart Heart & Sole with Aloe Yarn Faded Jeans for a unique look with lighter colors for summer. I made the front flap the Square on Point pattern (check this link for the free pattern) and used a wavy rib pattern for the inner square (check this link for the free pattern).
I like making different squares and then turning them into purses - using fun colors of yarn and fun squares makes for unique purses!!! They also make great projects which you can work on with your granddaughters to help them learn to crochet. Let them pick the yarns they want and then choose patterns which use different stitches so they can learn new stitches as they work on their purses. Once they learn how to make a purse, they could make one for their mom for Mother's Day or get a jump on their Christmas gift-giving by making purses for their mom and friends! You could even encourage them to do a fund raiser for a local charity or a missionary you know by making purses which they could sell.

So, what do you think? Who might you make a purse for?
