Summer Reading - Andi Unexpected

It can be a big challenge to find quality stories for middle-graders . . . so many books tend to turn to the strange, bizarre and scary which leaves few options for your nine to thirteen year old grandchildren. So, when I had the opportunity to review a new book I wasn't sure if it would be more of the same, or worse, a story which didn't capture the imagination. I am so happy to say I loved this book and highly recommend it to you for your middle-grade grandchildren!

Andi Unexpected
Author - Amanda Flower
Publisher - Zonderkidz
Releases - September 24, 2013
Ages - 9+
  • Characters children will relate to and find to be interesting - they will care about Andi, Colin and Bethany
  • A mystery to solve adds to the fun of this book
  • Provides the opportunity to talk with children about important topics such as friendship, sibling issues, grief, loss, trusting God and prayer
Andi Unexpected leaves the reader looking forward to the next Andi Boggs Novel . . . I'm looking forward to it for sure! Zonderkidz describes this story in the following way:"Twelve-year-old Andora 'Andi' Boggs and her fourteen-year-old sister Bethany move to rural Ohio to live with their eccentric twenty-something aunt after the sudden death of their parents. While dealing with her grief, Andi discovers proof of another Andora Boggs in the family tree whose existence was hidden in a Depression-era trunk in the attic. With help from her new friend and neighbor, Colin Carter, Andi is determined to find out who this first Andora was and what happened to her." I have to say the story is far more gripping than this description - kids will love Andi!

This book releases the end of September, so as the release date gets nearer, I'll post a give-away for Andi Unexpected, so . . . stay tuned!
