grandma's bookshelf - Bash and the Pirate Pig - I'm Giving One Away!

I was recently invited to participate on a blog tour for a new book, Bash and the Pirate Pig  it sounded like a fun book, so I said I'd be delighted to review it (I was sent this book for free in exchange for my review, but my review is totally my own opinion!) I had no idea how delighted I - and my grandsons - would be by Bash and the Pirate Pig!

Bash and the Pirate Pig
Author - Burton Cole
Illustrator - Tom Bancroft
Publisher - BH Kids
Ages - 8+

Favorite Features -
  • Humor! Humor! Humor! Which leads to lots of laughing, and laughing and laughing!
  • Crazy characters add to the fun and the humor . . . and of course, the laughing!
  • In and between the crazy antics of Beamer and Bash are solid lessons about family, friends, making wise choices and God and His Word!
I love this book! While my grandsons are not old enough to read it themselves, it is a book we are reading together - and laughing at together - one chapter at a time! Which of course means - lots of snuggling in grandmas lap so I love it even more!!!

BH Kids says, "Bash and the Pirate Pig is the story of a cranky city kid names Raymond 'Beamer' Boxby who must spend summer vacation at his younger cousin Bash's farm. (Otherwise known as the Farm of Doom - a title which immediately got Josiah's attention!) Beamer prefers air conditioning and video games. He can't see what good ca come of this so-called country fun which includes riding cows, river rafting with a pig or playing with skunks. But hang tight, Beamer, because Bash's zany adventures with his 'Fishin' and Farmin' book' (The Bible) just might lead to the coolest discovery of all!"

Cow-tipping, cow riding and building tree houses set the pace at the beginning of the book for a story which will leave children - and adults - wanting to hear/read the next chapter and will have everyone laughing out loud for sure! The solid messages are ones children will understand and be challenged by as well making Bash and the Pirate Pig a definite "must-have" addition to any personal library!

I'm delighted to say not only did I receive a copy of Bash and the Pirate Pig for review, but an additional copy is available for me to give away! (USA only) If you are over the age of 18 and would like to be in the drawing for Bash and the Pirate Pig, which will be on September 10, 2013,  please comment below to let me know if you have followed on Google+, Google Friend Connect, followed by liking on facebook with the tab at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email.
