2018 Christmas Gift Review & Giveaway - Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas

I have enjoyed reading all my life and I believe books are wonderful things. But I know it may be more challenging to find books young boys will read, than it is to find books young girls will read. Since my grandchildren are all boys, I have had an interest in books which may interest boys.

Today I'm very happy to have the opportunity to review another book from graphix/Scholastic - one I'm quite sure my grandsons will enjoy!

Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas
Creator - Dav Pilkey
Publisher - graphix/Scholastic
Ages - 7+

Favorite Features -
  • Silly, fun story - one my seven year old grandson is sure to enjoy . . . and read for himself!
  • Colorful illustrations.
  • Liked the "review" of the story at the start of the book - great for someone who may not have read the previous book.
  • Fun combo of humor and adventure - what isn't there for a young reader to enjoy!
graphix/Scholastic says; "When a new bunch of baddies bust up the town, Dog Man is called into action -- and this time he isn't alone. With a cute kitten and a remarkable robot by his side, our heroes must save the day by joining forces with an unlikely ally: Petey, the World's Most Evil Cat. But can the villainous Petey avoid vengeance and venture into virtue?"

Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas is exactly the kind of book I'm looking for to give to my grandson who does not particularly enjoy reading. With the graphic illustration style and funny story, this is a book he would actually read! Which of course, makes me a happy grandma!

I'm very happy to say not only did Scholastic Books send Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas for me to review and share my own opinion of it with you, but they are making another available for me to give away (USA only). If you are over the age of 18 and would like to enter this drawing for Dog Man: Lord of the Fleaswhich will be on November 25, 2018, please comment below to share what you might write about if you were to make a book for young readers which had an excellent blend of humor and adventure - for my grandsons there would have to be a husky (they love husky dogs) and probably aliens with a portal to their planet.

In addition if you have followed on Google Friend Connect, followed by liking on facebook with the tab in the "Find us on Facebook" box ON THE BLOG or at this link (not just liking the post) and/or have followed grandma's cookie jar by email you will receive one entry for each of these which you have done. Plus, if you "share" this post, you'll receive another entry (please let me know if you share). This will help me be able to draw names from among people who would like to win
Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas and it gives you several ways to enter the give-away! Thank you for reading grandma's cookie jar and for sharing it with the people you know!

  1. I would write about trolls or gnomes

  2. Oh this is on my sons Christmas wish list! They have quite a few books on there which make me happy. If I wrote a book with humor and adventure for kids it would most likely be about kids time traveling to biblical times and dealing with funny situations that arise as they adjust to life there.
