Christ the Lord is Risen Today! Alleluia!

Today is Resurrection Sunday - the day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus! I thought I'd share Glad's performance of the classic, Christ the Lord is Risen Today - enjoy and remember . . . because He is risen today, you can raise your joys and triumphs high and sing because death no longer has a sting or victory! Jesus did fight the fight and the battle is won because Jesus lives again! Alleluia!

A Gift - "Galleries of Stone" - & an Opportunity!

Two days ago I posted a review of The Blue Door - and announced a give-away of two signed books! (You'll find it all at this link) Today I want to share with you a truly wonderful gift from the author, Christa Kinde. Not only has Christa written the first two books in a series which you can happily and confidently share with your older elementary and teen grandchildren/children called the Threshold Series (I'll be reviewing - and giving away - the second book, The Hidden Deep next week), but she has also created an amazing story which captures the imagination and leaves you so you just have to keep reading called, Galleries of Stone

This story has 366 chapters - yes, I just said, 366 chapters . . . one for every day of the year. The reason for this is because of a challenge Christa challenged herself with! She describes it in this way; "As a personal writing challenge, I’ll be using‘s Word of the Day as a daily writing prompt throughout the upcoming year. As a Word of the Day subscriber, each morning, my prompt will conveniently arrive in my inbox. I’m already in suspense, for while I can attest to a prodigious vocabulary, I fully expect to be pulling my hair out at regular intervals in the months ahead! For better or for worse, daily chapters will be added to Galleries of Stone. The story will be appropriate for all ages. The adventure will grow with the characters. The goal is to hold your interest (and mine) for an entire year! Let’s have some fun!"

grandma's cookbook - Resurrection Rolls!

Tomorrow is Resurrection Sunday! The most important day in all of history because it is the day Jesus rose from the dead and made it possible for our sins to be forgiven so we can one day live with Him in Heaven forever! He is risen indeed!

So, if you are looking for something special - yet simple - which you could do with your grandchildren to help them understand how wonderful the empty tomb is, consider this recipe I found on Pinterest for Resurrection Rolls!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today -You're On Your Own . . .

We've been looking at Dr. Seuss quotes for the past month and today is the last one. It has been fun to look at some of the many Dr. Seuss quotes and then to think about them in the light of God's Word. So . . . the final Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "You're on your own. You know what you know. And you are the one who'll decide where to go . . . " Well . . . we do know what we know and we can decide where we will go, but we are not on our own and if we are wise, we will ask God to show us the way we should go! Consider Psalm 25:4,5, "Make your ways known to me, LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth—teach it to me— because you are the God who saves me. I put my hope in you all day long.

april fools day pranks
Can you believe April 1st is only three days away? If April Fool's Day has "snuck" up on you and you are looking for a couple harmless, but seriously funny pranks you can pull on your grandchildren/children, hubby or friends . . . check these great ideas I found on Pinterest! They make me laugh just to think about them! :-D

OMHU Sport Cane

"Because with great care, life may be imperfect, and also beautiful!" Don't you just love this saying?!! I found it on OMHU's website. What is OMHU, you ask? Well, aside from being Danish for "with great care", OMHU is a company which designs canes - with great care! OMHU was founded on the belief life is imperfect and beautiful and this shows in their canes which are beautiful and perfect!

I have MS, so when I go out I use a cane to give me stability and to help when I tire - which doesn't take long when I'm out and about. Last year OMHU sent me one of their lovely, purple original canes for review (you'll find the post at this link) and this year they sent me one of their new Storm Blue Sport Canes which I am delighted to let you know about.

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - I'm Sorry to Say So . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is,  "I'm sorry to say so but, sadly it's true - that bang-ups and hang-ups can happen to you!" This is true. Bang-ups and hang-ups can and will happen to us.

Our world is broken by sin and because of this, hurt, pain and disappointment are part of life. We do not, however; have to be defeated by our bang-ups and hang-ups! Consider Joshua 1:9, "I’ve commanded you to be brave and strong, haven’t I? Don’t be alarmed or terrified, because the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.We do not have to be alarmed or terrified because the LORD our God is with us wherever we go!!!!

grandma's bookshelf - The Blue Door - I'm Giving Two Away!

When it comes to books; particularly novels, for older elementary children and young teens, it can be a tremendous challenge to find anything they will be engaged by and which you still want them to read. Far too often there is a lot of garbage out there for this age to read. It seems like most of the books for them have a lot of vampires, zombies, dark magic, violence, sex and stories designed to scare the kids. I, for one, do not want my grandchildren to read those books. So what options do you have to give them stories which are well written? Stories which will capture their imagination? Stories which they will want to read? Stories which will challenge and encourage their walk with God - which of course, is the most important thing?

Well, I'm absolutely delighted to share a new series of books with you - along with several great give-aways! First of all, please allow me to "introduce" you to the author; Christa Kinde. I need to let you know, I know Christa. I worked for her husband for a few years and attended the same church as they did. I can assure you Christa is a genuine lady who loves God and her family; she is a delight to know! Christa has a gift for putting a smile on your face - she so often seems to have one on her own. She is the kind of friend we all hope to be blessed with; and who we want to be to others as well. So, when I had the opportunity to review her book I was very happy to do so!

Christa has the first two books in her Threshold Series completed - The Hidden Deep is the second book and releases on April 23, 2013 (I'll be reviewing it next week). The Blue Door is the first book where Christa introduces you to Prissy Pomeroy, her family and her neighbors . . . some of them are angels! The Blue Door "opens the window" to spiritual warfare and woven in and among a story about a girl and angels is the truth of how God loves us and has a plan for us! Children will be challenged and encouraged as this book deals with family, friends, peer pressure, temptation, betrayal, choices, who they are and helps children get an idea of Who God really is! The Blue Door will leave children - and adults looking forward to the release of The Hidden Deep so they can find out what happens next!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - Step With Care and Great Tact . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"Step with care and great tact. And remember life's a great balancing act!" Life has it's "stages" and "moments" and we need to walk though it with a mind for "balance". Consider Ecclesiastes 3:1-8,11,  "There’s a season for everything and a time for every matter under the heavens: a time for giving birth and a time for dying, a time for planting and a time for uprooting what was planted, a time for killing and a time for healing, a time for tearing down and a time for building up, a time for crying and a time for laughing, a time for mourning and a time for dancing, a time for throwing stones and a time for gathering stones, a time for embracing and a time for avoiding embraces, a time for searching and a time for losing, a time for keeping and a time for throwing away, a time for tearing and a time for repairing, a time for keeping silent and a time for speaking, a time for loving and a time for hating, a time for war and a time for peace. God has made everything fitting in its time."

Free Live Q & A on Sudden Heart Failure in Student Athletes

My grandsons are young - four and one year old, so playing on a sports team is not yet something we are particularly thinking about. However, many families are involved in student sports and while for the vast majority of them this is usually a positive experience, as one family in a near-by community experienced a couple years ago, it can also be heart-breaking when sudden heart failure occurs.

I have a lot of give-aways on grandma's cookie jar and one of the resources for these give-aways is PartnersHub. They typically invite me to review movies and give them away, but I received an email from them on Monday which said, "PartnersHub is working with the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center on a free live Q and A to help active families understand the risk factors of sudden heart failure in student athletes." They asked me to share the following information with my readers . . .

grandma's movie review - parental Guidance - I'm Giving One Away!

It only takes a few moments of your time on grandma's cookie jar to know I absolutely am head-over-heels in love with my grandsons and completely and totally LOVE everything about being a grandma! ♥ ♥ ♥ Just the thought of Josiah and Caleb makes my heart happy! I am a tremendously blessed grandma in that my son and daughter-in-law are so generous in sharing these sweet boys with their poppa and me . . . we get to have the boys over for a sleep-over most weeks at least once!!!! What a wonderful gift from them to us! The memories! The hugs! The laughs! The love! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

So . . . when Fox contacted me about reviewing - and giving away - parental GUIDANCE,  how could I turn it down? Not only is it a movie about grandparents spending time with their grandchildren, but Billy Crystal is the grandpa . . . I had a very strong suspicion there would be a fair amount of laughing going along with this movie! Which totally is the case! :-D

The Dr. Seuss Quote For Today - From There to Here . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere!" This is mostly true! There are funny things most everywhere . . . some are easier to see than others, but there are funny things most everywhere!

The Dr. Seuss Quote For Today - Will You Succeed?

The Dr Seuss Quote for today is, "Will you succeed? Yes you will indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed!" Well . . . there are things in life which if we focus ad are persistent, we are likely to succeed, but certainly, most things in life there are not guarantees.

However; when it comes to knowing and walking with God . . . well, if we follow God's Word, we are 100% guaranteed to succeed because God wants us to know and walk with Him! Consider Jeremiah 29:11-14a, "I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. When you call me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you search for me, yes, search for me with all your heart, you will find me. I will be present for you, declares the LORD." God wants us to find Him! This is some of the best news we could ever have! God tells us how we can be better than ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed to succeed when it comes to finding Him . . . we need to call on Him, talk with Him, search for Him with all of our heart and then we will find Him because God says He will listen to us and be present for us! This is a promise and guarantee I can cling to!
