Eden's Garden Essential Oils

I tend to be a fairly skeptical person when it comes to things like essential oils, but a friend once shared how essential oils made a huge difference in the life of their son with serious medical issues. Since I have MS and asthma, I thought I'd look on-line to see if essential oils might be helpful. Today I'm delighted to share with you how oils may be used by you and the ones you love as well . . . and please know, the company I'm recommending is not a multi-level marketing company.

Mystery Bags

A couple days ago I wrote about engaging our grandchildren when we hand down the faith - particularly if God created them to be children who learn by doing, touching, talking - being involved in the process. I mentioned "Mystery Bags" and today I want to give you an example of how you might use a "Mystery Bag" with your grandchildren. You will find the post, and the idea for a fun "Mystery Bag" which you could try with your children and/or grandchildren at this link.

crafting with grandma - Crocheted Raggedy Ann & Andy Dolls

I have always been a "fan" of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls! In fact, the first doll I bought my daughter was a Raggedy Ann doll! After all  what isn't there to love about these sweet dolls which have been loved "friends" of children for decades??!!! Sweet, huggable and oh, so lovable, Raggedy Ann dolls are classics for a reason!

It's Our Job to Obey What God Has Decided

I posted this on my other blog - Grandmas with Heart, but it is important, so I want to share it with you as well . . .
As grandmas (and grandpas and parents) it is our "job" to pray and hand down the faith - we know this and it is our joy to do so. It is also our "job" to love our grandchildren - and certainly we fell in love with them the very first time we saw and held them. Loving our grandchildren is the easiest "job" we ever had.
We are happy to pray, hand down the faith and love our grandchildren, and know at least the basics of what these things involve, but today I want to think about a time when it may be possible we will also have to speak up for our grandchildren.

Crochet a Cute Llama!

I've been working on putting together a small Christmas Gift Review for this year - one of the things in the review is yarn. Red Heart sent me some of their new years to review and giveaway, so as I work on the review I thought it would be fun to share with you a new pattern for an adorable llama you could crochet with some soft Red Heart yarn!

You will find the pattern at this link - and you have time to make one, or some, for the children you love for Christmas! (From the comments it looks like it takes two to four weeks to make.)

For whom might you make this cute llama?

Today is World Gratitude Day

The perfect way to say thank you and show you appreciate someone. <3 Perfect for Teachers, Moms, Family, Neighbors, Church Leaders and friends.Yes, today is a day for the world to pause and think about the many things for which we have to be thankful. Make your own list of at least ten things for which you are thankful - challenge your grandchildren to do the same and compare lists. You may also want to do something with your grandchildren to show your thanks to the people in your life who bring joy to you and who brighten your day. Check these ideas I found on Pinterest . . .

grandma's chuckles - I Still Have My Grandma Super Power

Last week when I made cookies for my grandsons, they decided my "grandma super power" was making cookies! This week they decided I still have my "grandma super power" and if they had to choose between a grandma with the super power of running fast or making cookies, they would definitely choose making cookies! Plus, my youngest grandson said he wished he could live on just eating my cookies!

Well, I am happy to know my grandsons enjoy my cookies (Peanut Butter Toll House - just use half the butter and the other half use peanut butter) but most of all, enjoy the gift these three boys are to me from the hand of God.

What has your grandchildren said lately which brightened your day?

Let's Leave a Legacy

The Grandmother's Bible is a NIV Bible with 365 days of studies in the text to help grandmas focus upon being people who hand down a heritage of faith to their grandchildren. For example, look at the devotion which goes with the Bible reading from Judges 2:6-3:6. In verses 10-12 of chapter two we read . . .

Celebrate the Children in Your Life

Yesterday, along with being Grandparents' Day, it was "Wonderful Weirdos Day" - a day to celebrate the non-boring, interesting and unique people in your life. Now, to me this sounds like a great way to describe us all, so I look at it as a fun day to celebrate the people in my life, but on today.

So, take time today to celebrate the non-boring, interesting and unique people in your life - and certainly these words describe your grandchildren! Call, visit, email, facetime - do something to get in touch with them and let them know how thankful you are they are part of your life!

grandma's chuckles - My "Grandma Power"

Last night my grandsons had a sleepover at my house, so this morning I made cookies. My youngest grandson "sneaked" a fresh baked cookie and said; "Your 'grandma power' is making cookies!"

I'm glad he approved of the cookies and I'm happy to have the "power" to make tasty cookies, but my greatest "grandma power" is to pray for my grandsons - I know there is much I am not able to do, but God is able and willing to do everything, so my real "grandma power" is to pray.

Guess what!!! Praying is your real "power", too!

Grandparents' Day Gift to You from Grandmas with Heart, Because What You Do Matters

God has a purpose for us. What we do as grandmas (and grandpas and parents) matters. It matters for us to tell the children we love how God has been faithful to us, and family before us. It matters for us to help them learn to watch for how God is faithful to them today. It matters for us to share the true accounts of people in the Bible and how they chose to love, know and walk with God - and how the children we love are able to do the same. It matters for us to pray faithfully for them. So, with Grandparents' Day in just three days, take a moment to think about what you are doing to hand down the faith on purpose - it does matter.

Yes, being a grandma (and grandpa - parent) is about the hugs, time spent together building memories and all the fun, but it is also about handing down the faith. This is our God-given job - and source of great joy as well.

So, with Grandparents' Day almost here, if you have not yet downloaded your free copy of Deeper In 4 Grandparents & Parents, Too! Praying the Scriptures for the Children You Love, take a moment to do so now. You will find it at this link - and yes, it is free; a gift to you from Grandmas with Heart.

And please feel free to share it with the grandparents - and parents - you know.

grandma's cookbook - Lemon Bars

My family loves my lemon bars, so today I'm sharing with you a recipe for lemon bars - the butter cookie bottom and soft, tart lemon topping . . . a wonderful treat! My favorite recipe is straight from the Better Homes and Gardens cook book I received when I was first married - 37 years ago! Sometimes the older recipes are truly the best ones . . . so here it is, and enjoy!

Pay Attention, Plan & Pry

A couple days ago I wrote about the great faithfulness of God. I said, "Aren't you glad to know God's love for you is unwavering and determined in purpose? I am! God loves me on my best days! God loves me on my worst days! God loves me on all my in-between days! And, this amazing, steadfast, unwavering love of God for me NEVER ceases! It never stops! Not ever! As if this wasn't enough, His mercies NEVER come to an end! God gives me His mercy when I blow it! God gives me His mercy when I just mess up a little. God gives me His mercy and His mercy is new every morning! As if all this wasn't enough, Great is His faithfulness! I can always depend on God to do what He says He will do because He is faithful!
