Taking the Centuro Mini for a "Spin"

A few weeks ago I wrote about the Centuro Mini Mobility Scooter sent to me for review by Bischoff & Bischoff (one of Europe's largest manufacturers of rollators and mobility scooters.) I wrote how I was impressed with the design, quality, and attention to detail in the Centuro Mini and said I would write again when I had the opportunity to take it out for a "spin". Well, this past weekend my family and I visited Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park and I definitely was able to take the Centuro Mini for a "spin"! Today I am so happy to let you know what I think of it.

Top 5 Reasons for Focusing Our Grandchildren on Giving at Christmas!

“Christmas time is here. Happiness and cheer. Fun for all that children call, Their favorite time of the year!”

Ah, yes . . . Christmas time is here, or at least many believe so; we celebrated Thanksgiving a few days ago, may have put up our Christmas trees, and today is "Cyber Monday" so people are online shopping for bargains. Christmas time is here and while children are likely to focus upon the gifts they hope to receive . . . as for many children it is their favorite time of year, I believe it is the ideal time to redirect their focus to giving to others! So here are my Top Five Reasons for Focusing Our Grandchildren upon Giving at Christmas . . .

A Gift Which Lasts All Year & Beyond . . . Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park

Are you looking for a gift for your family? One which you do not have to worry about arriving in time for Christmas? One which is more than just another "thing" to open and shortly end up just taking up space? One which will help them connect and build memories? If so, then give the gift of either tickets to or a family membership to Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park (or a botanical garden near you.)

Christmas Traditions

My grandsons were over last night for a sleepover and so of course, we put up our Christmas tree! My middle grandson and youngest grandson both helped with the lights and then they put the ornaments on the tree - and some candy canes as well! I'm very happy with the look of my tree this year - the boys did a great job!

Do Not Stop - It Will Endure Forever

"ALL our pleasures and possessions are consigned to oblivion, but the legacy we leave for Christ will endure forever."

Christmas Resources Which Make a Difference - the Single Parent Confident & Successful

Today I am happy to recommend another book written by one of the Grandmas with Heart for you to consider adding to your own intentional grandparenting resource "tool kit" and for you to give as a gift for Christmas to the ones you love. Today's book, the single parent: confident and successful is written by one of our "Grandmas" - Linda Ranson Jacobs and while it was specifically written for single parents/grandparents, it is filled with wisdom about handing down confident faith making the single parent: confident and successful a great gift for any and all parents and grandparents - single or not.

Love Like there is No Tomorrow

As grandmas and grandpas who want to hand down confident faith, we know it is vital for us to develop strong relationships with the people with whom God has blessed us. This means we are the ones who make the effort to stay in touch. We are the ones who invite our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren to our home. We are the ones who never turn down an invitation to get together with these people we love who are gifts to us from the hand of God. We make the effort. We love like there is no tomorrow.

grandma's cookbook . . . Christmas Cookies . . . Soft, Brown Sugar Cookies!

Have you started pulling out your Christmas cookie recipes to fill your home with some of the best "parts" of Christmas . . . the sight, aroma, and flavor of cookies? This is the time of year to gather your grandchildren and get them elbow-deep in flour, butter, sugar and busy making cookies . . . and of course "sneaking" cookie dough and finished cookies, too! As you consider which cookies you want to make this year, consider adding this one to your list -

Chris Tomlin-United Tour

I was recently asked to write about the upcoming Hillsong United and Chris Tomlin tour and tell about my favorite Chris Tomlin song. While he has many songs I like, I think my favorite is "How Great is Our God". Whenever I hear it I always picture the day when life on Earth is done and we all stand before Him - certainly all will see how Great He is and we will all say how Great God is!

Make it a Thanksgiving to Remember

In just a couple days we will be celebrating Thanksgiving - although this year once again nearly all of us may end up celebrating as if we were all grandparents separated by distance due to covid. While this may be a very different and difficult thing for many, it is still an opportunity for us to model grace, joy, peace, and obedience - and in so doing teach very important messages . . . especially if we do this with some creativity, imagination, and fun! Consider the following .

crafting with grandma . . . Let's Make a Dinosaur Hat!

When my grandsons were younger I made hats for them each year for part of their Christmas gifts. When my oldest grandson was just three, he thought a dinosaur hat would be a good idea . . . and of course he was correct! A dinosaur hat was a wonderful idea!

Thanksgiving and Being Truly Thankful People!

Thanksgiving is just a few days away . . . so of course, we all tend to think and talk about being thankful. Thankfulness; however; should be more than something we just think and talk about. What does a thankful life look like? We want our grandchildren to be people who are truly thankful, so we need to be sure to help them to understand what a truly thankful life looks like when it is lived in their every day lives. Consider the following . . .

grandma's cookbook . . . Chocolate Peanut-Butter Bars!

When you are looking for a dessert, but only have a short time to prepare it, definitely consider chocolate peanut-butter bars! You could add some fun Christmas sprinkles to give them a "festive" touch.

grandma's cookbook . . . Squash Rolls for Thanksgiving!

Can you believe it . . . Thanksgiving is this week!!! I love Thanksgiving! I love getting together with family, I love fixing the turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and stuffing and I love putting up the Christmas tree as soon as dinner is over!!! I celebrate Christmas for a full month . . . each time my grandsons are at my home between Thanksgiving and Christmas, they get to open a gift! (Most of them are small items, but they most certainly add to the fun!!!) I absolutely love, Love, LOVE giving gifts!!!

Be Thankful & Have Hope

As we draw closer to the day when we particularly think about being thankful for all our many blessings, take some time today to also think about how you have hope due to God's great faithfulness!

Hand Down a Strong Faith & Prayer History

Were you blessed to grow up in a home where your parents and/or grandparents taught you to pray by showing you how they prayed? Did the adults in your life take the time to pray for you (where you were able to hear them) and with you? Did they share with you what God's Word has to say about talking with God? Were you blessed to be able to pray with confidence for most of your life and find prayer a true source of joy and strength?

Hand Down All the Parts of Your Faith History

I like this quote from Charles Spurgeon. Who of us never made a choice which we now regret when we look back? Sharing our Faith History - even the part where we may have not followed God so closely - is an important part of handing down confident faith. When we share the choices we made which were wise, as well as those which were not, we open the door to having important conversations which are able to make a difference. Now, this doesn't mean you have to share every detail of choices you made which you regret, but letting your grandchildren know you are a real person with all your failures and successes will go far to encourage them - and help them learn to make wise choices.

Christmas Gifts Which Make a Difference - Life on the Goldilocks Planet Series

We know Generation Z is turning away from their faith and to atheism at double the rate of previous generations. We also know while churches - and parents/ grandparents teach the "whats" (what the Bible says and therefore what we believe) with varying degrees of success, the "whys" (why we are able to believe what we believe) are not taught at church - or at home. But, there are excellent reasons we are able to believe with confidence - we just need to teach them (at church and at home.) So, today I am so happy to share with you a resource you are able to get - and give - this Christmas which will equip you to teach the "whys" to the ones you love!

Sculpt their Souls

Are you one of the grandmas (or grandpas) who are so blessed to have grown children who love and walk with God, and who are committed to hand down confident faith with you to the children you love? Do your grandchildren want to go to church, want to talk about their walk with God, and embrace a confident faith of their own? Or, do you have grown children who, like so many their age, are no longer involved in church, who do not embrace a confident faith of their own, and/or grandchildren who tell you they are, "not into that church thing any more"?

Hand Down the Faith with Mystery Bags - Origami Christmas Star

A few years ago I involved my three grandsons in making my Christmas cards. The boys helped draw the design on the cover, I wrote the inside greeting and then the boys prayed with me for the people who received our cards. We prayed the coming year would draw the people who received the cards closer to Jesus.

Mystery Bag - Sometimes Handing Down Confident Faith is Simple - & Fun

When it comes to handing down confident faith to my grandsons, I of course talk with them about why they are able to know God is real and trust His Word with confidence. I help them learn to talk with God and model what it looks like to love, know and walk with God. All important, essential parts of handing down confident faith. But, there are also times where I plan something simple and fun to help them learn to show their faith by showing love and appreciation to others.

So far this month I have been sharing with you books and resources which you are able to add to your own "tool kit" of books/ resources which will equip and empower you to hand down confident faith and also make wonderful Christmas gifts which make a difference. Beaded homemade Christmas Tree ornaments for kidsThis week where I live in West Michigan it is getting cold and is supposed to snow . . . personally, I'd rather only have snow December 22nd through December 28th, but at least we do not have lots of huge spiders here in West Michigan . . . fewer bugs is a benefit of cold, snowy winters.

crafting with grandma - Twig Stars

In two weeks from Thursday my Christmas tree will be going up! I love celebrating Christmas and while I plan for lots of "fun", I also try to keep the focus on the reason for the season - Jesus! My tree is decorated with a crocheted nativity set, angels, crocheted snowflakes and snowpeople . . . I know, the snow people/flakes have nothing to do with the reason for the season, but I live in Michigan and snow is a given at Christmas!
