It's Time to Think about Christmas - a Nativity Set for Your Grandchildren!

Christmas is just two months away and many of us will start decorating in a month or so. The first year my husband and I were married (forty two years ago), he got me a Precious Moments Nativity Set for Christmas. I love  setting up my Nativity Set each year - we have a bay window in our living room, which is where we put our tree; in previous years we set the Nativity Set in the window as well with the kings traveling across the living room to the Nativity, because I want the focus to be on the Reason for the Season - but we have a cat who is VERY curious, so I am putting it on a shelf in our dining room again this year.

So at any rate, when I saw ideas for making your own Nativity set on Pinterest, I thought it would be fun to share with you so you are able to help the children you love make their own set over the weeks leading up to Christmas! Each week they will add to their set by making additional pieces to take home, which of course, means now is the time to start planning and gathering supplies - especially if your grandchildren live far from you. If you get everything ready, you could send them everything in a box, connect on-line and then throughout the month leading to Christmas.
  • Week 1 - Joseph, Mary and the Donkey
  • Week 2 - Angels and the Shepherds
  • Week 3 - Sheep
  • Week 4 - baby Jesus and the Star
  • Week 5 - after Christmas - the Three Wise Men
Save empty medicine bottles and/or paper towel tubes, gather some scraps of cloth, make circles for faces, gather wooden clothespins, or whatever supplies you need, and you are ready to begin creating!

Celebrate Christmas all of December with your grandchildren and keep their focus on what really matters . . . Jesus!
