- 1 teaspoon baking soda
 - 1 teaspoon salt
 - 1/2 cup oats
 - 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
 - 1/2 cup peanut butter
 - 3/4 cup granulated sugar
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 - 2 large eggs
 - 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
 
Directions -
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
 - Mix butter, peanut butter, sugar, vanilla, and eggs so they are well combined.
 - Add dry ingredients
 - Add chocolate chips
 - Scoop onto ungreased baking sheets
 - Bake for nine to eleven minutes until golden around edges, but still soft for a truly wonderful cookie
 - Transfer to cooling racks
 - Expect children (adults) in the house to raid the cookies!

According to a website I found, the most popular homemade cookies include chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar cookies, oatmeal, and snickerdoodles - all delicious cookies and worthy of being made and enjoyed on this day! They also gave some hints to making great homemade cookies . . . 
- Ingredients should be at room temperature.
 - Use an ice cream scoop to help with portion size
 - Rotate cookies in oven halfway through for even cooking
 - Let them cool before removing from cookie sheet.
