crafting with grandma - Noah's Ark Baby Blanket

Before each of my grandsons were born I crocheted a blanket for them. Ten years ago I was working on a special Noah's Ark blanket for my youngest grandson - thought I'd share it with you today.

I used Red Heart Anne Geddes Baby yarn in Bluejay, Boutique Unforgettable yarn in Dragonfly, and Botique Changes yarn in Aquamarine for the water . . . I wanted it to have different shades and textures so as I crocheted it in a zig-zag stitch it would have the "look" and "depth" of "real" water. I used Red Heart Baby Clouds yarn in Blue Skies for the sky and then I used bits of this and that to make the giraffe, elephant, dove, turtle, fish, and the ark.

I, of course, added a heart in the top corner as I put a heart on everything I make for the boys! :-) <3

I made it larger than a typical baby blanket - my grandson still uses it today! You can make one by choosing whatever yarn you want and using a simple zig-zag crochet pattern, and then crochet the critters and ark - I looked on Pinterest for patterns for some of these and just "guessed" at how to do it for others. If you make one, I'd love to see a photo! :-)
