Fun Science Project

My grands love science projects . . . one reason I included science projects in my book for families - Generations Quest - Cultivate the Faith! They are such engaging, "hands-on" and memorable ways to help my grands learn important things. So, I am always on the watch for new projects which I can try with my grands. Make 2025 the year where you and the children you love grow closer as you discover the adventure of learning about God's Word and the world God created - you will find my book at this link.

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today -You're On Your Own . . .

We've been looking at Dr. Seuss quotes for the past month and today is the  last one. It has been fun to look at some of the many Dr. Seuss quotes and then to think about them in the light of God's Word. So . . . the final Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "You're on your own. You know what you know. And you are the one who'll decide where to go . . . " Well . . . we do know what we know and we can decide where we will go, but we are not on our own and if we are wise, we will ask God to show us the way we should go! Consider Psalm 25:4,5, "Make your ways known to me,  LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth—teach it to me— because you are the God who saves me. I put my hope in you all day long.

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today is - A Person's a Person . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"A person's a person no matter how small!"   This is one of my all-time favorite Dr. Seuss quotes! It is absolutely true! A person is a person no matter how small, large, tall, short, skinny, fat . . . no matter how they are, a person is a person! I want to also say a person is a person no matter where they are from, or what gender they are, or the color of their skin, or if they are trans/queer. A person is a person and God loves us all.

John 3:15 tells us, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." God's Word tells us God loves all of us and we need to do the same.

A Family of Her Own for Candy - A Fun Children's Picture Book

Since my Dr. Seuss quote for the day is about reading to children, I thought I'd share a fun picture book with you. Three summers ago my husband, grands, and I went to the Humane Society to get a kitten. I wanted my grands to go with us because, first of all, they love all animals, secondly I wanted to be sure whatever cat we got was one which was able to be around my grands without being aggressive. We spent some time at the Humane Society and finally settled on a very sweet calico - which we named Candy, because she is sweet (and my middle grand said she reminded him of candy corn.)

I decided to write a story about Candy - part of it I know is true and part of it I'm imagining what it may have been like before Candy became part of our family. A Family of Her Own for Candy is this story, and this storybook is now available on Amazon (you will find the print copy at this link and the digital kindle ebook at this link.) If you know a child who loves kittens, and if you have a four-legged family member who you may have found at your Humane Society - or are thinking about a visit to your Humane Society as well - this is a story they are sure to love!

A Family of Her Own for Candy is a great book gift idea for birthdays and if you are so blessed to have your grandchildren spend time at your home on sleepovers, it makes a fantastic bedtime story! Plus, it is a fun story to use to encourage your young readers to read - especially as three months of Summer vacation is just around the corner. Please help me spread the word by sharing this post - thank you!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today - You're never too old . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child!" This is a quote I really love, and this one is 100% true! When it comes to reading to, teaching and nurturing our grandchildren, we are NEVER too old! Plus, Deuteronomy 6:4-9 tells us to make teaching our children a very high priority, "The LORD our God is the only true God! So love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, and strength. Memorize his laws and tell them to your children over and over again. Talk about them all the time, whether you're at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning. Write down copies and tie them to your wrists and foreheads to help you obey them. Write these laws on the door frames of your homes and on your town gates.

Meet Your Goals to Move More with the Help of the Alevo Alu

We all want to try and live a healthier life. As we get older, whether due to age or health or both, the goals we set to help us live healthier may be more difficult to accomplish, but don't give up! Spring is upon us and happily there are "tools" to help us. One such "tool" is the Alevo Alu by Porsche design. And, since the weather is becoming more lovely, getting out and moving is far more enjoyable! If you - or someone you love - experience challenges with mobility, or just need something to help you be more secure in your walking, the Alevo Alu is for you!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today is - I Meant What I Said . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"I meant what I said and I said what I meant!" The Bible does talk about this . . . look at Matthew 5:37 from the NIV, "All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." and from the CEV,  "When you make a promise, say only 'Yes' or 'No.' Anything else comes from the devil." It is pretty simple . . . say and do what you mean and mean what you say and do! It is about being faithful! Jesus is our perfect example of Someone who is completely faithful! He said and did what He meant and meant what He said and did. Many of the difficulties we find ourselves in could be avoided if we said and did what we mean and mean what we said and did. This is also so very true when working with children, we need to say and do what we mean and mean what we say and do!

The Little Ginormous, Humongous, Hairy, One-Eyed Monster Boys Adventures!

Spring Break is nearly here - so if you are looking for something new you could share with the children you love during Spring Break,  then consider giving them The Little Ginormous, Humongous, Hairy, One-Eyed Monster Boys Adventures! This book has two fun stories which will capture the imaginations of the children you love as they hear about the little ginormous, humongous, hairy, one-eyed monster boys and how they are afraid of the teeny, tiny, itty, bitty, not-so-hairy, two-eyed people children who they thought showed up unexpectedly under their bed at bedtime.

The Dr. Seuss Quote For Today - All Alone . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"All alone! Whether you like it or not, alone is something you'll be quite a lot!"  While we may be physically alone at times in our lives, the wonderful truth is we are never alone! Jesus promised to be with us always - just look at Matthew 28:20b, "Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age." Jesus said He will be with us every day! What a comfort this is! Look at Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t fear, because I am with you; don’t be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will surely help you; I will hold you with my righteous strong hand." Not only will God be with us always, but He will strengthen us and help us and hold on to us! We most certainly do not have to be afraid . . . even if we are physically alone! This is something we all need to be reminded of!

just for fun - It Is, "Make Up Your Own Holiday Day"!

Yes,

Yes, today really is, "Make Up You Own Holiday Day!" Nationaltoday.com says, "Whether you wish to celebrate something profound like Use Only Recycled Paper Day or you want to give in to your randomness by paying homage to Eat Purple Food Day, the possibilities are endless. This day is literally what it stands for — making up a personalized holiday which is close to your heart." So on this special day, I thought I'd share some fun facts about actual holidays and how to make up your own holiday - did you know . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - I'm Sorry to Say So . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is,  "I'm sorry to say so but, sadly it's true - that bang-ups and hang-ups can happen to you!"  This is true. Bang-ups and hang-ups can and will happen to us. Our world is broken by sin and because of this, hurt, pain, and disappointment are part of life. We do not, however; have to be defeated by our bang-ups and hang-ups! Consider Joshua 1:9, " I’ve commanded you to be brave and strong, haven’t I? Don’t be alarmed or terrified, because the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.We do not have to be alarmed or terrified because the LORD our God is with us wherever we go!!!! Look at Psalm 27:1, " The LORD is my light and my salvation. Should I fear anyone? The LORD is a fortress  protecting my life. Should I be frightened of anything?"

Honey, Maple, Oat Artisan Bread

From time to time I enjoy making artisan bread - and I have a new recipe which I want to share with you today. Before I get to the recipe I want to say this bread just takes minutes to mix by hand, you let it rise for a few hours, then pop it into the oven for about 40 minutes - this is all there is to it!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - Step With Care and Great Tact . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"Step with care and great tact. And remember life's a great balancing act!" Life has it's "stages" and "moments" and we need to walk though it with a mind for "balance".  Consider   Ecclesiastes 3:1-8,11, "There’s a season for everything  and a time for every matter under the heavens: a time for giving birth and a time for dying, a time for planting and a time for uprooting what was planted, a time for killing and a time for healing, a time for tearing down and a time for building up, a time for crying and a time for laughing, a time for mourning and a time for dancing, a time for throwing stones and a time for gathering stones, a time for embracing and a time for avoiding embraces, a time for searching and a time for losing, a time for keeping and a time for throwing away, a time for tearing and a time for repairing, a time for keeping silent and a time for speaking, a time for loving and a time for hating, a time for war and a time for peace. God has made everything fitting in its time."

Today is National Each Person is a Person of Worth Day

I love the idea of a day to focus on and emphasize the value of each of us, so National Each Person is a Person of Worth Day is absolutely a day to celebrate - every day! Nationaltoday (dot) com says, "the power of recognizing others’ worth and how this recognition impacts the other person is the key focus behind National Each Person is a Person of Worth Day, which is held each year on March 24. This celebration reminds us that not only is self-worth a universal trait, but how we gauge others’ worth also stays the same around the world. This day aims to get people to recognize the worth of everyone around them, and in doing so, appreciate their own." So on this important day, let's look at how to build our own self-esteem from Psychology Today -

The Dr. Seuss Quote For Today - Will You Succeed?

The Dr Seuss Quote for today is, "Will you succeed? Yes you will indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent  guaranteed!" Well . . . there are things in life which if we focus and are persistent, we are likely to succeed, but certainly,  most things in life there are not guarantees.

Connect with Important Things Jesus Wants Me to Know books

Resurrection Sunday is a little over a month away, which means Spring Break is just around the corner for the children you love. If you are looking for something you could do with them over Spring Break to connect and provide opportunities to talk about Who Jesus Is, what He did when He walked on this Earth, and how we are able to know Him better, take a look at the Important Things Jesus Wants Me to Know books and get a few to use with the children you love!

With these books and some crayons, markers, and/or colored pencils. you will be able to uniquely engage the children you love in ways they have never engaged before with the accounts of Bible heroes. As they (and you) illustrate their books, they will think about what is happening, the things the Bible people said and did, and how God showed His love and grace to the Bible people . . . which will help the children you love better understand how God shows His love and grace to them as well!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - Be Awesome . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"Be awesome! Be a book nut!" I'm all for reading so I like this quote! Begin reading to your grandchildren when they are young and continue to read to them, and encourage them to read, as they get older. Find books which introduce your grandchildren to something new and which connect with interests they already have. If you find your grandchildren struggle with reading, finding books which tie in with an interest they have is a good way to get them interested in reading. Thankfully these days there are many resources available for us to utilize to help our grandchildren learn, such as books and computer programs. Discover what your grandchildren's interests are and then find books which encourage them to become a "book nut"!

Today is International Goof Off Day!

Today is International Goof Off Day! You may be wondering why we would want to celebrate goofing off, well, according to nationaltoday (dot) com, they say, "The Goof Off Day is the ideal opportunity for everyone to unwind, enjoy themselves, and have a good time. The day invites us to be a little foolish, relax, and do pointless things on this particular day. On this day, you’re encouraged to do something unproductive for enjoyment until the next day to take a break from your daily duties."

We are likely to all agree our world holds lots of stress for us, so a day to unwind, relax, and enjoy taking a break is not a bad idea. Surprisingly, there are even some health benefits for "goofing off". Did you know . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote For Today - From There to Here . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere!" This is mostly true! There are funny things most everywhere . . . some are easier to see than others, but there are funny things most everywhere

God created the world and everything in it and some of these things are funny! Consider Colossians 1:16,  "Because all things were created by him: both in the heavens and on the earth, the things that are visible and the things that are invisible. Whether they are thrones or powers, or rulers or authorities, all things were created through him and for him."

Today is National French Bread Day

Today is National French Bread Day, so I thought I'd share a favorite recipe for baguettes! I received baguette pans a few years ago for Christmas, so I found a recipe on-line which I use, but I do not steam the bread - I like a soft crust, not crunchy. I know, not a "true" baguette, but it is tasty for sure! You will find the recipe at this  link.

Let's look at some fun bread facts, did you know . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote For Today - Today I Shall Behave . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "Today I shall behave, as if this is the day I will be remembered!" I really like this one! It is a challenge to all of us. So, how do we do this? Consider Matthew 7:12,  "Therefore, you should  treat people in the same way that you want people to treat you"

Today is the International Day of Happiness!

Nationaltoday (dot) com says, "A holiday called International Day of Happiness may sound a bit infantile to the uninitiated. Perhaps you’re imagining children singing ‘If you’re happy and you know it…’ or people gleefully dancing under a smiling sun and rainbows. While you’re not entirely wrong — who doesn’t like a good sing-song session — the truth is there’s much more to this delightful day than just smiles and good vibes."

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - Oh the Things You Can Find . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"Oh the things you can find if you don't stay behind!"

While there could be things you will find if you don't stay behind, I think there are far more amazing things you will find if you follow Jesus! John 8:12 tells us, "Jesus spoke to the people again, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me won’t walk in darkness but will have the light of life.'” And look at John 8:31, 32; "Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teaching. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” When we follow Jesus we won't walk in darkness and we will be free because we know the truth! What could be better than this?!!

Today, March 19th is International Read to Me Day

Today is International Read to Me Day - a day well worth celebrating for sure! Daysoftheyear (dot) com says, "Research shows children who regularly read have advanced literacy skills and a greater love for reading. The day promotes literacy and also encourages families and communities to engage in reading activitiesIt supports the idea of how everyone can play a role in nurturing a child’s love for reading."

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - "Only You Can Control Your Future!"

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"Only you can control your future!"  Well . . . we do have some "say" over our future, as we can decide if we are going to move forward on something or not, but we do not have "control" over our futures. There is very little in life which we can actually "control", but the good news is God has a plan for our future! This is incredibly good news . . . look at Jeremiah 29:11, "I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope.We can not "control" today or tomorrow, but this does not need to cause us to be afraid or to worry, because God has a plan for our future! I'd rather know God has a plan for my future - one which fills it with hope - than to try and "control" even a moment of my future! My "job" is to discover God's plan and then choose to follow it!

crafting with grandma . . . Pounded Flower Bandannas!

Today is going to be a "balmy" 64 degree day, so I'm thinking warm, positive thoughts - Spring will be here soon and there will be beautiful plants growing all around us! Flowers, leaves, even pretty weeds! So, get ready to take your grandchild(ren) on a nature walk and be sure to bring a paper lunch bag along with you to collect the beautiful things they find on your walk. Talk with your grandchild(ren) about the variety of colors in the things you see and lead them in praising God for using so many wonderful colors in the things He created! Encourage them to pick colorful flowers and uniquely shaped leaves as you walk through your yard and then bring them inside to make bandannas for them to wear all Spring and Summer!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - Be Who You Are and Say What You Feel . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"Be who you are and say what you feel. Because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind!"  There are things which are true about this saying, but there are also things which are not true. First the things which are true . . . if someone really loves you, they will love you no matter what you say because of who you are . . . a person who they love! Now for the things which are not true . . . you might,on  occasion, say things which people who matter to you get upset about. This can be a painful thing to have happen, but it can, and does happen from time to time.

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today is - The More That You Read . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!" Since I love books and reading, this is a quote I can most certainly agree with! There are so many wonderful books available for us to read to and with our children - check my book reviews on grandma's cookie jar for some wonderful books!

crafting with grandma - Origami Bunnies!

I have always loved origami! It is so fun to take a piece of paper, make a few folds and voila! You end up with something amazing! So, when I found a simple origami pattern for a  bunny   on Pinterest, I thought it would be fun to share it with you!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today is - Everything Stinks Till it's Finished

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is,   "Everything stinks till it's finished!"  Hmmm . . . I definitely do not agree with this saying, because while some things in life are difficult, and even unpleasant, others are pure joy! Even when things are not going the way we want, we are able to have an attitude of joy, so whether something "stinks" or not, is completely up to us! Look at Philippians 4:4-9 . . .

It is National Peanut Lovers Day

If you love peanuts and think every day is a day to celebrate the tasty treat, then you will be happy today as it is National Peanut Lovers Day! It is also a great time to share a simple way to turn a favorite recipe into an even better recipe . . . peanut butter toll house cookies!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today is - It is Better to Know How to Learn . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "It is better to know how to learn than to know!" Hmmm . . . I wouldn't say it is "better for us to "know how to learn" than it is for us to "know", but it is important for us to "know how to learn", especially when it comes to knowing and walking with God! I believe it is better for us to "know how to learn" AND it is important for us to "know"! We need both! Thankfully, God doesn't leave us to try and figure things out for ourselves! He gave us the Bible so we can know how to learn . . . just look at Psalm 119:105 -

Today is National Learn About Butterflies Day

Spring is nearly upon us - although a look out my window tells me it is here as I see flowers blooming, trees budding, grass greening, and birds all around - which since I live in Michigan, this is significant! One of the things which "signals" the arrival of Spring here in West Michigan, is the Butterflies are Blooming exhibit at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park and runs March through April. Since today is National Learn About Butterflies Day, I thought it would be a wonderful time to once again encourage anyone who lives here or will be visiting during this time, to make time to visit as you will definitely be able to learn more about butterflies if you do! You will find information about Butterflies are Blooming at this link.

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today is; You Are You . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "You are you. Now, isn't that pleasant?!" Yes, it is pleasant you are "you", but let's stop for a moment and see who God says we are . . . John 1:12, "But to all who did accept him and believe in him he gave the right to become children of God."  John 15:15, "I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know what his master is doing. But I call you friends, because I have made known to you everything I heard from my Father." 2 Corinthians 5:17, "So then, if anyone is in Christ, that person is part of the new creation. The old things have gone away, and look, new things have arrived!" Ephesians 1:4, "God chose us in Christ to be holy and blameless in God’s presence before the creation of the world."  Colossians 3:12, "God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So you should always clothe yourselves with mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." Wow! I'm God's child! I'm God's friend! I'm God's creation! I'm chosen by God! I'm loved by God! Yes, being all these things is pleasant! It is more than pleasant! It is awesomely amazing!

Todayis National Popcorn Lovers Day!

Yes, today is National Popcorn Lovers Day - my family certainly has people who could be considered "popcorn lovers" as we do enjoy popcorn! I found the following ideas for ways to celebrate Popcorn Lovers Day on  Popcorn.com . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today is - Sometimes the Questions are Complicated . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is,   "Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple!" In many aspects of life we do often "complicate" things when they could be significantly more simple, so I'd have to agree with this saying from Dr. Seuss! One things we might "complicate" is our relationship to God. Sometimes we think we have to be good, do good things, and think good thoughts if we are going to have a relationship with God, yet God Himself tells us in Romans 3:23, "All of us have sinned and fallen short of God's glory."

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park Butterflies Are Blooming Exhibit

If you live in, or near, Grand Rapids, MI, you are most certainly familiar with Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. The past few months I wrote a few times about one of their special exhibits – their Holiday Exhibition - I especially loved all the poinsettias in their tropical conservatory and their Holiday train display.

Today I’m very happy to once again be writing about Meijer Gardens (as those of us who live in this area fondly call them) and their amazing Butterflies are Blooming Exhibit which you can enjoy through April 30th.

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today - You have brains in your head . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose!"  This is true, we do have brains in our head and feet in our shoes and we can steer ourselves any direction we choose, but we also need to keep in mind, God has plans for us! Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"  How exciting! The God Who created the universe has plans for you and for me! His plans are plans for our good, not our harm, and they will give us hope and a future! If you were looking for good news to brighten your day today, what could be better news than this?!!! This verse shows us God's great love . . . He has plans for us! So, since we do have brains in our heads, let's use those brains to discover God's plans for us! We can do this by looking at the gifts, talents and abilities He has given us, the place in the world where He has put us and spend time in prayer asking God to show us what He wants us to do! Then, we can use those feet He has given us to head in a direction and see if this is the place God has planned for us!

New Top Frame From Pair Eyewear - The Butterfly Sparkle Crystal

A couple months ago I shared with you how I got new glasses from Pair Eyewear - and showed you all my pretty top frames. Today I'm very happy to let you know about another new top frame I just got from their limited edition, Cottagecore collection - the Butterfly Sparkle Crystal. As Pair Eyewear says, "This Top features a purple to teal translucent gradient with iridescent butterfly glitter scattered throughout."  I love it! I love the color and the sparkle of the butterflies when I move and am very happy to add it to my top frame collection.

Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not!"

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not!" This quote makes me think of a few questions  . . . "What do I care about?" "Who do I care about?" "How much do I care?" "What am I willing to DO in regards to what and who I care about?"

crafting with grandma - Handprint Shamrocks, Spring Flowers & Some Green Fun!

Yes, it is true, I have mentioned a time or two . . . or three or more :-) . . . about how much I like . . . hmmm, did I say, like? I should say, LOVE!!!,  hand-print crafts! I love them because they are usually creative and fun, plus they give a way to record a moment in time when a child was little - just look how small their hand once was!!!! I have a t-shirt I made when my children were little with their hand-prints on it. Yes, it most certainly is true, I LOVE hand-print crafts!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - Today is Your Day . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . "Today is your day! Your mountain is  waiting. So . . . get on your way!" What is your "mountain" just waiting for you to "climb" it? What can you do to "get on your way" today? We all have challenges and goals and while we may sometimes feel overwhelmed by them, remember, if we trust in God He will give us the strength we need to not only "get on our way", but to do so with "new strength"!  Isaiah 40:31  says, "But those who trust the LORD will find new strength. They will be strong like eagles  soaring upward on wings; they will walk and run without getting tired. So, you could look at this saying as, "Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So . . . trust God for your strength to get on your way!" What will you trust God for today?

crafting with grandma - Handprint Flowers & Handprint Easter Lily Brooches!

Resurrection Sunday is just a little over a month away, so if you are looking for a special craft you could help your grandchildren make as an Easter gift for their mother . . . make handprint flowers or take a good look at this craft I found on  Pinterest! I love how the flowers and the "lily" are made from the handprints of children! If you have two grandchildren, you could make it using one handprint from each of them! If you have more than two grandchildren, you could make more than one lily - but however you do it, and whichever you choose these are sure to be crafts a mother will cherish . . . you could make an additional one for yourself too, as grandmothers will cherish it, without a doubt!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - Think and Wonder . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . "Think and wonder, wonder and think!" There are so many things in life to think and wonder, wonder and think about, but I think one of the most wondrous  things to think and wonder about is God's incredible love for us! It is a very familiar verse, but it says it all; John 3:16 says,  "God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die!" Just think about this!!! God loved us so much! He didn't just love us a little; He loves us so much! And, not only does He love us so much, but He gave!!! His love wasn't just love in words only . . . He gave! And then to think about what He gave . . . His only Son!!! The wonder of it all! As if all this wasn't more than enough, He gave His only Son to die for us so we will have eternal life and never really die!!! Think about this! Wonder at the amazing love of God which gives!!!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - You'll Miss the Best Things . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . "You'll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut!" Wow! This short saying has some powerful truth in it! When I think about missing the "best things" by "keeping my eyes shut" I think about  missing out by not using the gifts and talents with which God has blessed us. I Corinthians 12:5-7 says, "There are different ways to serve the same Lord, and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do. The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others.!" We need to open our eyes and use these gifts so we don't miss the "best thing" of serving God!

grandma's cookbook - Forbidden Oreo Pudding Cake

While I rarely eat cake, I do enjoy cake. I particularly enjoy chocolate cake. When I add pudding to the cake; well, there is ever so much more to enjoy. And, when Oreos are "thrown" into the "mix" . . . "enjoyment" is an absolute "given"! So, when I was browsing on Pinterest and saw a recipe for Forbidden Oreo Pudding Cake, I had to share it with you - since yesterday was National Oreo Day!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today - Today Was Good . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . "Today was good! Today was fun! Tomorrow is another one!" If we are people who have experienced God's incredible love and grace, then we have something to celebrate each and every day!  Psalm 118:24 says, "This day belongs to the Lord! Let's celebrate and be glad today!" We can celebrate because our days do belong to the Lord! Some of our days are filled with good things, good times and good experiences . . . it is easy to celebrate and be glad on those kinds of days!  Some of our days are sad, difficult and trying . . . it can be difficult to celebrate on those kinds of days. On the difficult to celebrate kinds of days, remember Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
