Sleep, Sheep! by Kerry Lyn Sparrow and Guillaume Perreault is a book which I am SO happy and thankful to be able to include in this year's Children's Day & Summer Book Review as it is an absolutely delightful and surprisingly fun story from Kids Can Press! If ever there were a book which needed to be included in my review, this is certainly it!
Favorite Features -
- I truly enjoyed the colorful and detailed illustrations! I could almost feel the texture and softness of the sheep and enjoyed all the details.
- The story is relatable for any children who struggle to get to sleep at night - and the solution to this sleep challenge is completely delightful!
Kids Can Press says, "It’s time for bed! … Or is it?
Duncan does not like going to sleep — and he’ll do anything to avoid it. Until one day, his mom has had enough of his stalling and leaves him to figure it out on his own. 'Try counting sheep,' she suggests. Which actually turns out to be kind of fun. At first. But when it’s Sheep #68’s turn to jump over Duncan’s bed, he won’t. He needs a drink of water, he says. Then he has to go to the bathroom. Then he wants running shoes. Will Sheep #68 ever do what he’s supposed to?"
If you have any children you love who may find getting to sleep challenging, this story is one for you to share with them and makes a wonderful gift for Children's Day, a birthday, or for Summer Reading Fun (and definitely for bedtime reading fun as well!) You will find it at this link.
