Children's Day & Summer Book Review - Trouble Dog

I love books for children. Some of the very best stories are found in books for children. When I find a book with a wonderful, engaging, fun story AND which teachings me something new and interesting, well, I am most likely to be VE RY happy to share this book with others. Today's book from Eerdman's Books for Young Readers is once such book. Trouble Dog, written by Carol A. Foote and illustrated by Larry Day is absolutely a book you will want to give the children you love - and one they will enjoy, no matter their age!

Favorite Features -

  • I LOVE the color and details in the illustrations of this book. These illustrations are enough of a reason to get this book, but there are absolutely many, many more reasons to do so!
  • The story took a completely unexpected turn for me! I had never heard of a "conservation dog" before, so not only did I find a wonderful happy story about an unwanted dog becoming a much "wanted" dog in this book, but I also learned something new with the extremely interesting information included in the back of the book.

Eerdman's Books for Young Readers says, "Tucker the dog never means to be trouble: he just loves to play. But at the animal shelter, every visitor says he’s too much trouble—until Laura. Laura thinks Tucker might be just right for a very special job. Could all his energy make him an amazing conservation dog? Laura trains Tucker to track down Gila monsters, endangered flowers, even grizzly bear poop. His first assignment is in Hawaii, searching for invasive rosy wolf snails hidden under leaves. Where will his nose lead him next?

With colorful, endearing art and dashes of humor, Trouble Dog invites children to join scientists—and their canine colleagues—in their work to save wildlife around the world. Readers will cheer for Tucker’s inspiring journey from shelter dog to eager trainee to confident globetrotter. The story concludes with photos and further information about the real dogs and trainers of Working Dogs for Conservation, the world’s largest and oldest conservation dog organization."

If you have a child in your family who is a dog-lover, Trouble Dog is absolutely a book they will love - it will make a great Children's Day, birthday gift and a book for Summer Reading Fun for sure! You will find it at this link.
