The "Receiver" of "Treasure"!

I have been the "receiver" of great "treasures"! When my grands were little, they often brought me these "treasures" - flowers (or, since they often were dandelions, as they are more often classified, weeds!), enormous, dry, dead, brown Sycamore tree leaves ("Grandma, these leaves are dead, but they are SO cool!!!") and little green leaves ("These are leaves, grandma!!!"). I also received the "treasure" of hearing jokes, riddles, and stories (all told with a big smile and a twinkle in the eyes!!!). And, of course, hugs, kisses, raspberries, and snuggles!

Oh, yes, my grands were very quick to give me "treasures". Not necessarily ones with large price-tags, but they were certainly priceless to me and treasures all, for which I am still so very thankful! Now they are older - two teens and an twelve year old-nearly teen - I continue to receive treasures, but this time they are most often the treasure of hugs given without asking and the incredible treasure of their time - they still choose to come to our house for sleepovers nearly every weekend - and my oldest grand will be 17 in just over two weeks!

I want to be intentional to pass on true treasure to my grands as well. Not the type which they will learn about in a will, but rather the treasure of knowing beyond a doubt, no matter what, they are always and most dearly loved. I also want them to have the treasure of knowing, loving, and walking with God. The treasure of learning to trust and love God's Word. The treasure of learning to talk with God. The treasure of growing close to God - whether they are currently doing this, or not, my hope and prayer is they will!

I know what real treasure looks like . . . both the type which flows from the hearts of my grandsons and the treasure of passing on a heritage of faith. I am oh so thankful for both!
