So, as 2026 is about to begin, if you live in or near West Michigan - or are planning a vacation here, make sure Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in on your list of places where you will absolutely spend time - you will be so glad if you do!

As we have experienced in previous years, it looks like they have filled the year with so many incredible opportunities to strengthen your health - as being around nature and art are physically and mentally good for you and Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is filled with nature and art! Check out just some of the fun they have planned for the coming year -

  • Now through March 15, 2026 - Jaume Plensa: A New Humanism explores Jaume Plensa’s career-long engagement with themes common to our shared humanity such as dreams, desire, justice, and mortality. While Plensa’s oeuvre is marked by diversity in format and media, the human condition remains the primary subject of his art, which traverses the personal and collective, individual and universal. Featuring both monumental and intimate-scaled sculptures and select two-dimensional works which span four decades, it is the first retrospective of this internationally acclaimed artist in the United States.
  • January 24 & 25 - Orchid Show - Free admission. Open to the public. One of the beautiful, beloved qualities of Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park? We’re in bloom every season! This January, winter gets a radiant glow-up at our annual Orchid Show. Presented by the Grand Valley Orchid Society, this perennially popular showcase turns the Welcome Center, Garden Pavilion, and Gordon Food Service Corridor near the DeVos–Keeler Gift Shop into a stunning sight as orchid clubs from across Michigan exhibit their enchanting displays.
  • March 1 - April 30, 2026 - As the season changes, the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory comes alive with the return of Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming! This highly anticipated event, the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the United States, showcases the stunning diversity and intricate beauty of butterflies and moths. Butterflies Are Blooming invites visitors to celebrate the unique spectacle of lepidopteran flight and the exquisite patterns of their wings in the lush environment of the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory.
  • CHIHULY at Meijer Gardens will transform both the outdoor gardens and indoor galleries into a dynamic showcase of the artist’s range and masterful creativity. This presentation will feature numerous outdoor installations such as Chihuly’s monumental glass towers and other dramatic, site-specific artworks nestled within Meijer Gardens’ lush landscapes. Indoors, within the sculpture galleries, the exhibition Chihuly: Radiant Forms will immerse visitors in a rich and varied selection, highlighting more than four decades of Chihuly’s artistic evolution. Among the series on view are his celebrated BasketsMacchiaSeaformsPuttiIkebana, PersiansVenetiansCylinders, and Rotolo, complemented by original drawings that offer insight into his creative process. Together these works underscore Chihuly’s deep appreciation and embrace of diverse cultures that continuously inspire his iconic creations.

These are just a few of the wonderful things for us all to see and enjoy in 2026 - my husband and I are absolutely planning to renew our grandparents and a guest membership for the year - we and our grandchildren 18 and younger and a guest are able to visit as often as we like for the coming year. This is one of our best investments for our own health and to strengthen our family connection!
