Today is National Sloppy Joe Day, so I'm sharing with you my favorite recipe for tasty sloppy Joes, or barbeques, or whatever you want to call them. I grew up enjoying barbeques made with ground beef, and while many are made this way, I use pork loin which I cook in my instant pot - the barbeques made this way are fantastic!
Ingredients -
- Pork loin - use whatever amount you need for the size of the crowd you are feeding
- One cut onion
- One cut/cubed apple
- Two tablespoons honey
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic
- One cup water
- One small can of tomato paste or ketchup
- Place your onions into your instant pot
- Cut your pork into chunks then put on top of the onions.
- Season with salt, pepper, garlic, add honey and apples, then the water.
- Seal and cook for 49 minutes.
- Let it release the steam, then remove the pork and pull with forks.
- Add the tomato paste or ketchup and use the broth to make the sauces as thick or thin as you like. Enjoy!
This is a fun and tasty recipe - you could let your grandchildren help you make it and/or pull it. They are sure to enjoy eating it with you! You will find information about National Sloppy Joe Day at this link.
