Today is Transgender Day of Visibility, so since people are transgender due to how their brain developed during the third trimester (NOT a choice they made), I do not hate or make life difficult for anyone - especially for something which happened when they were just a baby growing in their mom, and because Jesus told us to love ALL people, I'm writing about this today. First of all, I am an Ally. I care and I will always stand up for and with those who need an ally. I also have people I dearly love who are trans and queer, so today, and every day, I am for visibility and acceptance for them. I am happy so many people in cities around the world stood up to celebrate and stand up for Transgender People this past Sunday - absolutely another thing to celebrate today on Transgender Day of Visibility.
USA Today had an excellent article on this last year, I will share some of it today, but you will find all of it at this link.
"A representative from the national advocacy group The Trevor Project told USA TODAY while the day aims to support the community, many transgender people have safety concerns, and visibility should not be forced upon anyone.
'This day should also remind people "visible" does not mean "equal," explained Nova Bright, head of internal training, learning and development at The Trevor Project. 'We must continue working toward a country full of people who understand transgender people are our neighbors, our family members, and our friends; trans people want to simply be able to go about their daily lives, just like anyone else.'
The national crisis lifeline for LGBTQ+ young people reminds trans individuals it is OK to celebrate acts of visibility, whether they are large or small, including:
- The feeling which comes with taking your first hormone dose.
- Being called your chosen name by someone who loves you.
- Finding language to describe your identity.
- Feeling euphoric in a piece of gender-affirming clothing.
- Looking in the mirror and loving who you see looking back at you.
'As we honor Transgender Day of Visibility, one thing remains abundantly clear: Trans people are here, trans people have always been here, and they are not going anywhere,' Trevor Project CEO Jaymes Black said. 'To all trans young people, I want you to know: You are never alone.'”
Nationaltoday.com says, "Why hold somebody accountable for something they have no control over? Importantly, why attach negative connotations to transgender individuals at all? Being born transgender is in no way a cause for distress — it is the way people react to their status which negatively affects the well-being of trans individuals. Transgender people contribute to the world as much as anyone else. They have had just as much of a visible impact on society. We need this day to celebrate and remind the trans community the value of their lives, accomplishments on international platforms, and contributions to history are not forgotten." I absolutely agree, and want to say if anyone should love and accept Trans people, it should be those who say they love Jesus since He told us to love EVERYONE. Plus, Trans people are Trans because of how their brains developed in the third trimester - yes, when they were just tiny babies. Hating and making life difficult for them is the opposite of what any of us should do - especially if we say we love Jesus. So, if you are going to be a grandma - or grandpa or parent who wants to point the children you love to Jesus, the do what Jesus said and love EVERYONE.
