Sneak Peek . . . Chihuly at Meijer Gardens!

From time to time I write about the amazing things in store for you at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, MI. Today I'm very happy to let you know about something incredible which will be happening at Meijer Gardens from May 2 to November 1, 2026 - Chihuly will be here! Yes, Chihuly - and Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is the only place in the USA where you will be able to enjoy the amazing art of Chihuly this year!

So, what is Chihuly? Well, first of all Chihuly is Dale Chihuly and he is an artist of amazing, colorful glass. "Dale Chihuly is an American artist who transforms spaces with experiments in color, light, transparency, and form.

He is known for his exhibitions and large-scale architectural installations around the world and for revolutionizing the studio glass movement. Chihuly works with a variety of media including glass, paint, charcoal, neon, ice, and Polyvitro, and his work is included in more than 200 museum collections worldwide, including Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, and Corning Museum of Glass."

Meijer Garden says, "This highly anticipated exhibition transforms both the outdoor gardens and indoor Sculpture Galleries with the world-renowned work of Dale Chihuly. As you explore the gardens, you’ll encounter monumental sculptures, vibrant Reeds, and stunning site-specific installations. Each work is thoughtfully placed to explore the connection between art and nature, creating moments of beauty and surprise throughout the landscape.

Inside the galleries, the ticketed exhibition CHIHULY: Radiant Forms highlights more than 40 years of innovation. Featuring iconic series such as Baskets, Seaforms, Persians, Venetians, Cylinders, and Rotolo, the exhibition also includes original drawings which reveal Chihuly’s process and inspirations.

CHIHULY at Meijer Gardens is an immersive experience for visitors of all ages. Whether you’re a longtime admirer or new to Chihuly’s work, this exhibition celebrates color, light, space, and form through the work of one of the world’s most influential contemporary artists."

And, along with being able to enjoy the beautiful Chihuly art outside throughout the Sculpture Park, you will also be able to see incredible pieces inside in the galleries - "CHIHULY: Radiant Forms fills the indoor sculpture galleries with colorful works from over 40 years of Dale Chihuly’s career. Featuring beloved series and original drawings, the exhibition offers an inside look at the ideas and influences which shape his iconic work.
