"Step With Care and Great Tact . . ."

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"Step with care and great tact. And remember life's a great balancing act!" Life has it's "stages" and "moments" and we need to walk though them all with a mind for "balance" and for showing grace to others - including yourself. Yesterday I heard someone talking about how they never give themselves the benefit of the doubt or notice when they do something well, so when others do this for them, it really got them to thinking about how they should go easier on themselves. Far too often this is true for many of us, so today I want to take a minute to share affirmations I found on the verywellmind.com where they said, Positive self-affirmations are usually short, simple statements you come up with on your own based on your own needs and emotions. But self-affirmations have a more universal application, too. It’s okay to use more generalized, pre-written affirmations if you feel they apply well to you.

Here are some positive mental health affirmations to get you started:

  • I am a strong, capable person.
  • I have done difficult things in the past, and I can do them again.
  • am allowed to feel upset, angry, and sad sometimes—this is part of being human.
  • My personal boundaries are important, and I’m allowed to express my needs to others.
  • “No” is a complete sentence, and I don’t have to explain or justify my boundaries.
  • I am allowed to feel good and to experience pleasure in life.
  • I am worthy of receiving good things and of accomplishing my goals in life.
  • The past is the past, and my past doesn’t predict my future.
  • I forgive myself for the mistakes I made, and I refuse to hold them against myself.
  • I am allowed to take up space, to have desires, and to have a voice.
  • I don’t have to give up my hopes and dreams.
  • I know my worth.
  • I deserve to be loved and to love others.
  • Growth is sometimes bumpy and isn’t always linear, but I will stay the course.
  • I will surround myself with people who love and support me unconditionally.
  • I accept myself for who I am.
  • With positive thoughts and self-confidence, I will be unstoppable.
  • I am proud of myself and will continue to strive to do well.
  • Today, I will do my best.

Please take these affirmations to heart as you are worthy of loving and accepting yourself - and be sure to take time to affirm others as well. Commit to helping the children you love learn to be affirming of themselves and others as well.

While I believe it is essential for us to be affirming of ourselves and others, we also have to be people who speak the truth and who stand up for the truth. If we only are affirming, but do not speak the truth, then we do not have a balanced life. There are many things happening in our country and world today which require us to stand up and speak up for the truth. Please do this for yourself and for the ones you love.
