crafting with grandma - Mother's Day Heart Gift

 

Mother's Day is May 10th so I thought I'd share a gift idea which you could help your grandchildren make for their mom. I was browsing on Pinterest  and found a craft which you could help your grandchildren with depending on the level of help they need - older grandchildren would need little help and younger grandchildren would need more, but it is a craft which many children could make!

All you need is a piece of wood, some nails, paint and then some lengths of string, yarn, beads, whatever you want to use to string around the nails! 

• Select a piece of wood, have your grandchildren sand the edges and then paint. 
• When the paint dries, hammer the nails in the shape of a heart and allow your grandchildren to wind the string, yarn, beads - whatever you have to make their "Heart". 
• Use old magazines to cut letters to spell a message and glue in place . . . you might be able to add a photo of the child and mom in the middle of the heart - I think a photo would add a really special touch to this gift! 

This is all there is to it . . . fun to make and a great gift to give . . . perfect for Mother's Day!
