While I believe it is essential for us to have hope, there are many days when I feel like hope is far away with all the corruption and lack of justice going on in this country. I do believe it is essential for us to all stand up and speak up because if we do not, then we are being complicit with the evil happening here in the USA.
While we all likely were able to breathe a short breath of relief when the massively corrupt war criminal who currently occupies the white house didn't carry though on his war crime threats for the, "whole civilization to die, never to be brought back again." and the war does look like it may be over - none of us know what will happen next and only time will tell if this is a true end to the violence and war in Iran.
As a mom and grandma I want the world in which those I love are living to be a place where they are safe. I want them to be able to live their lives without the shame of being part of a country which commits war crimes and murders innocent people here and in other countries. I want them to grow up treating others with love and acceptance. It is for these reasons I have to speak up once again today.
It seems like we are constantly horrified by the things being said by the massively corrupt, racist, likely pedophile, thief, war criminal, convicted felon/sexual abuser who currently occupies the white house. I was angered by the failure of republicans to stand up in masse and call for the impeachment, conviction, and removal of him from office. I am now 65 and for 55 of those years I always voted republican. I grew up being taught if you were a Christian, then of course you voted republican, because "character counts". However; it doesn't really seem like "character counts" at this time.
I am disgusted to say I voted for trump in 2016 - extremely reluctantly, but I did vote for him. However; as I watched what he did and listened to what he said I knew everything about him was the absolute opposite of what I believed about Jesus and I would never vote for him again. In 2020 I voted for Biden - some supposed christians I knew told me it was "immoral" for me to vote for Biden. I told them I disagreed and voted for Biden. I voted for Harris in 2024. I will never vote republican again. I taught the children I love to do as Jesus said and to love ALL others, so how can I vote for people who speak and do the opposite?
After the past few months in particular, I believe it is essential for all of us - especially if we are moms/grandmas - to stand up and speak up. We must contact all of our elected officials and tell them to stand up and speak up as well. Tell them we want those in the House to impeach trump NOW. Tell those in the Senate we want them to convict trump NOW, so he can be removed from office before he says and does anything more to make us a country where we continue to commit war crimes. This has to happen NOW.
