Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Kouchibouguac National Park

Today I'm very happy to let you know about a very interesting National Park in New Brunswick, Canada - Kouchibouguac National Park. In addition to being quite beautiful, there are two very surprising things about this Park - at least I found them to be surprising!

  • Part of the Park is accessible via a long floating boardwalk crossing a calm lagoon - I found this to be quite interesting.
  • Kellys Beach, which is part of  Kouchibouguac National Park, is known for having some of the warmest salt water north of Virginia. I found this to be very unexpected as New Brunswick is quite a bit North of Virginia!
  • Kouchibouguac National Park covers 238 square kilometers, it protects a unique blend of barrier islands, golden sand dunes, salt marshes, and lush mixed-wood forests.
  • It's name means "river of the long tides" in the local Mi'kmaq language.
