Since I learned I am a "Lost Canadian", I have been learning many interesting - and sometimes very fun things - about Canada. So, for "Christmas in July", today I'm very happy to share with you some information about Canada, Santa Claus, and the North Pole . . .
- Canadian officials claim Santa as a citizen and even issued Santa a passport.
- Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander presented Santa and Mrs. Claus with the 2,999,999th and 3,000,000th ePassports at a special ceremony in Vaughan, Ontario to ensure they have the automatic right to re-enter Canada after global delivery trips.
- In 2008 and 2010, the Canadian government officially declared Santa and Mrs. Claus to be Canadian citizens.
- Canada Post has dedicated the famous postal code H0H 0H0 to Santa's workshop.
- Canada Post operates an official letter-writing program. Children can mail letters addressed to Santa Claus at the North Pole, Canada, H0H 0H0, and receive personalized replies in multiple languages.
