Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Canada Being One of the Most Peaceful Countries in the World!

Yesterday I heard the news about how Canada is in the top fifteen of the most Peaceful Countries in the world. I'm not at all surprised, but I am very happy to learn this! Canada ranks 14th out of 163 countries globally according to the Global Peace Index. Canada retains its title as the most peaceful nation in North and Central America. The  Institute for Economics & Peace says Canada is a model of stability.

Typically when I think about Canada, I feel peace, calm, and relaxed - apparently there are solid reasons for me to feel this way!

According to DH National (Daily Hive), "the report is produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), and 'measures a country’s level of negative peace using three domains of peacefulness.' The first metric is the ongoing domestic and international conflict, the second is societal safety and security (crime rates, terrorist activity, violent demonstrations, political stability), and the third is a country’s militarization (a country’s level of military build-up and access to weapons). Countries are assigned a score from one to five, with lower scores indicating higher levels of peace."

Canada Action says, "Canada's top 15 ranking on the GPI 2025 shows our country is a leader on the world stage in many aspects. This provides insight into Canada's exceptional record on human rights protections, as peace and progressive development are inextricably linked [2].
