Yesterday I wrote about some of my Canadian ancestors' roots in Argenteuil, Quebec, Canada, and tomorrow I'll write about another place in Canada where my ancestors are from, but today I'm writing once more about Canadian Thanksgiving - since one week from today is Canadian Thanksgiving! This will be my family's first Canadian Thanksgiving, so I thought I'd write about the menu I'm fixing for this special day . . .
- Of course I'm fixing turkey, but I decided to buy two applewood smoked turkey breast tenderloins and plan to top them with a bit of maple syrup (because I have Canadian ancestors who were Sugarmakers and maple syrup does seem to fit well with Canada!)
- I'm also fixing mashed potatoes and plan to use a mix of red potatoes and Yukon Gold (since they were developed in Ontario, Canada, so they seem like a "Canadian" way to have mashed potatoes!)
- Gravy seems like a natural "fit" with mashed potatoes, and since I'll be adding a bit of maple syrup to my turkey, I'm looking forward to seeing if it makes a difference in the turkey drippings I'll use for the gravy.
