Colored Egg Alternative - Birdseed Eggs!

Tomorrow - April 5, 2025 is National Self-Care Day

As moms and grandmas we often tend to spend our time caring for others, and while this is a wonderful thing, we also need to spend time caring for ourselves - and teach the ones we love to do the same. This is not being "selfish", self-care is essential for our own well-being as without it we are not able to do the things we do to care for others. Nationaltoday.com explains it in the following way, "Our minds and bodies require adequate rest and care for optimal health and well-being. This day emphasizes the importance of self-care as the basis for good health. It’s also a day when individuals are encouraged to prioritize self-care and make it a habit." Let's look at a few facts about caring for yourself and some ideas on how to do so -

April is National Month of Hope

April is National Month of Hope, so let's look at ways we are able to be people who live with hope and extend hope to others. Daysoftheyear (dot) com says, "The  National Month of Hope seeks to act as a reminder that there can always be brighter days ahead!

Today is National Children's Picture Book Day!

Today is National Children's Picture Book Day! We all likely had a favorite book when we were young - I loved several Dr. Seuss books, Ten Apples Up On Top was one of my favorite Seuss books for sure! When we think of children's picture books, we certainly think of books by Dr. Seuss - especially since last month I shared a Dr. Seuss quote each day of the month! Well, today is a day to remember your favorite picture book from when you were a child and to share books with the children we love as well. One of the reasons that National Children’s Picture Book Day is celebrated on April 2 is because renowned fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday also falls on the same day.

Fun Science Project

My grands love science projects . . . one reason I included science projects in my book for families - Generations Quest - Cultivate the Faith! They are such engaging, "hands-on" and memorable ways to help my grands learn important things. So, I am always on the watch for new projects which I can try with my grands. Make 2025 the year where you and the children you love grow closer as you discover the adventure of learning about God's Word and the world God created - you will find my book at this link.

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today -You're On Your Own . . .

We've been looking at Dr. Seuss quotes for the past month and today is the  last one. It has been fun to look at some of the many Dr. Seuss quotes and then to think about them in the light of God's Word. So . . . the final Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "You're on your own. You know what you know. And you are the one who'll decide where to go . . . " Well . . . we do know what we know and we can decide where we will go, but we are not on our own and if we are wise, we will ask God to show us the way we should go! Consider Psalm 25:4,5, "Make your ways known to me,  LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth—teach it to me— because you are the God who saves me. I put my hope in you all day long.

The Life on the Goldilocks Planet Books are Now Available as Kindle ebooks!

From time to time I post about my Life on the Goldilocks Planet books as they make fantastic books for the entire family to enjoy. Today I am very happy to let you know while you are able to get these books as paperback books, the entire series is now also available as Kindle ebooks on Amazon!

Since I am older, I enjoy books in their printed form, but I know many people really like being able to get their books in a digital format, so if this is you, or someone you love, you are now able to get the Life on the Goldilocks Planet books in their very portable ebook format!

These books are interesting, fun, engaging, and fantastic tools to help you hand down confident faith. I am not the only one who believes these books are an excellent tool to help you hand down confident faith - look what people are saying about it . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today is - A Person's a Person . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is"A person's a person no matter how small!"   This is one of my all-time favorite Dr. Seuss quotes! It is absolutely true! A person is a person no matter how small, large, tall, short, skinny, fat . . . no matter how they are, a person is a person! I want to also say a person is a person no matter where they are from, or what gender they are, or the color of their skin, or if they are trans/queer. A person is a person and God loves us all.

John 3:15 tells us, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." God's Word tells us God loves all of us and we need to do the same.

A Family of Her Own for Candy - A Fun Children's Picture Book

Since my Dr. Seuss quote for the day is about reading to children, I thought I'd share a fun picture book with you. Three summers ago my husband, grands, and I went to the Humane Society to get a kitten. I wanted my grands to go with us because, first of all, they love all animals, secondly I wanted to be sure whatever cat we got was one which was able to be around my grands without being aggressive. We spent some time at the Humane Society and finally settled on a very sweet calico - which we named Candy, because she is sweet (and my middle grand said she reminded him of candy corn.)

I decided to write a story about Candy - part of it I know is true and part of it I'm imagining what it may have been like before Candy became part of our family. A Family of Her Own for Candy is this story, and this storybook is now available on Amazon (you will find the print copy at this link and the digital kindle ebook at this link.) If you know a child who loves kittens, and if you have a four-legged family member who you may have found at your Humane Society - or are thinking about a visit to your Humane Society as well - this is a story they are sure to love!

A Family of Her Own for Candy is a great book gift idea for birthdays and if you are so blessed to have your grandchildren spend time at your home on sleepovers, it makes a fantastic bedtime story! Plus, it is a fun story to use to encourage your young readers to read - especially as three months of Summer vacation is just around the corner. Please help me spread the word by sharing this post - thank you!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today - You're never too old . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child!" This is a quote I really love, and this one is 100% true! When it comes to reading to, teaching and nurturing our grandchildren, we are NEVER too old! Plus, Deuteronomy 6:4-9 tells us to make teaching our children a very high priority, "The LORD our God is the only true God! So love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, and strength. Memorize his laws and tell them to your children over and over again. Talk about them all the time, whether you're at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning. Write down copies and tie them to your wrists and foreheads to help you obey them. Write these laws on the door frames of your homes and on your town gates.
