April 11th Was Pet Day

I just realized April 11th, was Pet Day! I can't believe I missed writing about it, but if you have a pet, you know every day is "Pet Day", so I'm writing about it today. Most of us have, or have had, a pet and consider them to be part of our family. When my husband Dave and I were first married, we had a Basset Hound; we named her Mindy. When we had children, Mindy was a "mother hen" to them! She was definitely a part of our family for a long time!

Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Children

It is available in the grandma's cookie jar Book Store, on Kidology, and through Amazon. What could you possibly do to better help the children you love - especially at this time? Look what people are saying about it . . .

Today is National Orchid Day

This past January I was able to enjoy an incredible Orchid Show at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park - so since today is National Orchid Day, I thought I'd share some interesting facts about these amazing and beautiful flowers. Did you know . . .

Just for Fun!! Sea Anemones, Hermit Crabs, Watermelon, Corn & More!

When I look at the world around me I see a creation which is too amazing, too intentional for it to have just "happened" on its own. I am not able to ascribe an intelligence and incredible ability to creatures which allows them to determine they need legs, or opposable thumbs, or wings, or whatever to survive and then just "evolve" to have those things on their own  - it is crystal clear God designed these things to evolve, they didn't evolve on their own.

Creation is so specific, and amazing! There are creatures and plants which could not survive without the other; for example, did you know . . .

Make Your Own "Peeps"!

With the cost of eggs this year, try making your own "Peeps" with the kids instead of decorating eggs - you just need large marshmallows, powdered jello or colored sprinkles/sugar. You will find the simple directions for doing this at the following link.

The Little Ginormous, Humongous, Hairy, One-Eyed Monster Boys Adventures!

Recently I shared how when my grandson were young and at my house for a sleepover, we typically made up stories at bedtime. They almost always had monsters or dinosaurs in them. One night when my oldest grandson was six, my middle grandson was three, and my youngest grandson was one, we were getting them into bed when my oldest grandson said he saw a monster under his brother's bed! This was not what my middle grandson wanted to hear, so I said there could not be any monsters under his bed because the monsters were at their poppa's and grandma's house getting ready for bed on their sleepover. My grandsons found this idea very interesting, so of course, our bedtime story for the night had to have little, ginormous, humongous, hairy, one-eyed monster boys getting ready for bed and being scared because they thought they saw, teeny, tiny, itty, bitty, not-so-hairy, two-eyed people boys under their beds!

Truths about Grandparents . . .

This morning I was thinking about being a grandma and what an amazing blessing it is, so I looked up a few quotes about grandmas/ grandparents and thought I'd share some with you . . .

grandma's chuckles - Hugs - They are Good for You!

I am very blessed to have my grands at my house often, but today I'm remembering a time nine years ago when they were seven, four, and two years old and were here - they had spent the night and as we were getting ready for bed, I hugged the two younger ones and then asked my oldest grand if they wanted a hug, too. He did, so of course, I happily hugged him.

More Quotes from Dr. Seuss!

My grands typically spend the night on Saturdays, and since my oldest grand is just a few months from being 17, I know what an amazing blessing it is they still want to come for their weekly sleepover! When they are here we often play Abducktion (a very fun board game) or chess - both require strategy and my grands are quite strategic!

So, with a mind for "fun", I thought it would work to share some additional Dr. Seuss quotes with you!

I am "Vintage"

As the children we love grow up, their sweet rascally selves continue to show up from time to time. Two years ago when my grands were 14, 11, and 9 they told me I am "vintage" - like everything which was made back when I was born. Hmmm - they are saying I am old, but in a sweet way!

😀😆😂🤣🙂😉
