Books Which Make a Difference - the little answer book & the little answer book for children

Today I am happy to let you know about two books for the adults and children you love -the little answer book  and the little answer book for children.

As I say in my books, I am not a scientist. I am not a theologian. I am not a philosopher. I am not an apologist. I am a mom and I am a grandma. I have listened as friends have shared how their loved grown child and/or grandchild turned away from their faith. I know this is a pain more and more parents and grandparents are experiencing (as shown by the Barna studies). We must not sit back and continue to watch as the ones we love turn away from their faith.

Friday was Johnny Appleseed Day - Celebrate with Apple Cider Lollipops!

Friday, the 26th was Johnny Appleseed Day, but since I grew up in - and currently live - in West Michigan, and Johnny Appleseed was someone I learned about as a child, I thought it would be a fun day to share with you!

So, first some background info I found on-line about Johnny Appleseed. "He was born in 1774 as Johnny Chapman, this nurseryman became a legend while he was still alive, because he grew apple trees and supplied apple seeds to the early American settlers. He was and still is a legend. During the movement out west, he traveled and planted apple trees along the way. There is said to be a link between him and Arbor Day. Johnny Appleseed Day is at times celebrated on both dates, because he was born on September 26th, 1774 and March 11th is believed to be the date of his death."

Red to Coral Gradient Crystal Topper from Pair Eyewear

I am happy to share with you today a new top for my Pair Eyewear glasses - the Red to Coral Gradient Crystal - and yes, it is quite pretty! This colorful and fun topper will only be available for a short while as it is currently a limited edition - I won't be surprised if it moves to an "always available" topper - and I do think it should as it is a simple way to add a wonderful "pop" of red to any day!

As I have shared before, this past January when I had to get new glasses, I decided to try Pair Eyewear. This line of glasses was designed to have magnetic top frames which you are able to change out for an entirely new look and style - it is SUCH a fantastic idea! It is like getting an entirely new pair of glasses for only $25 or $30 - the cost of a new topper. I have to say, I absolutely LOVE Pair Eyewear!

Tomorrow is National Good Neighbor Day!

While we should certainly be good neighbors every day, today is a day to especially be a good neighbor! In Luke 10 Jesus taught everyone is our neighbor and we need to be good neighbors; people who have and show mercy to all others! Get your grandchildren and think about things you are able to do to be a good neighbor to your neighbors. Maybe you could . . .

Book Review - We Are Definitely Human

A couple days ago I received a book from Tundra Books which I am SO happy to share with you - We Are Definitely Human by X. Fang! I have to say, the title alone is enough to make this book worth buying for the children you love - but I am quite delighted to say this book is much more than just a wonderful title!

just for fun - Today is National Doodle Day!

Are you a "doodler"? Do you tend to draw absentmindedly or when you are bored? Do you tend to add little drawings or sketches to your name or when you write a note to someone? Most of us likely do this from time to time and today is a day to do so as it is, "National Doodle Day"!

grandma's cookbook - My Sister's Recipe for Pasties!

My sister lives in Northern Wisconsin, so when they visit us in Michigan they make the drive through the UP  (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) where Pasties (pronounced PASS-Tees) are a local favorite. Since today is National Cooking Day,  I thought since my sister shared her recipe with me . . . I'd share it with you!

Today is National Cooking Day!

On Nationaltoday (dot) com they say; "It can be easy to get in a rut of constantly ordering takeout, heating-up frozen meals, or settling for a dinner of apples and cheese. But if you want to feel truly nourished, nothing beats a home-cooked meal. It’s nice to slow down and enjoy the process of preparing your own food — and the joy of eating it! This is why we’re celebrating National Cooking Day on September 25. National Cooking Day encourages and inspires each of us to discover something new and enjoyable in the kitchen. It’s a time to learn a knew skill by preparing something delicious for loved ones — and ourselves. So put on your aprons and let’s get cooking!"

Today is World Rhino Day!

As they write on daysoftheyear (dot) com, "Almost every child in the world should be able to immediately recognize this magnificent beast, with its heavy grey skin and prominent horn (or horns!) upon its snout. The rhinoceros is a much-loved critter!

Today is National Elephant Appreciation Day!

Today is definitely the day to appreciate large animals, as along with being World Rhino Day, it is National Elephant Appreciation Day as well! Nationaltoday (dot) com says today, "is a great time to give these majestic and beautiful creatures the respect they deserve. Elephants are the largest land mammals on Earth, so it’s only right they have a day completely dedicated to them. Sadly, humans are increasingly placing the elephant’s future at risk. So, whether you’re a lifelong elephant lover or not, take time on September 22 to learn about these amazing pachyderms."

Yes! illustrate my own Books ARE for You & the Children You Love

Fall is upon us and Winter is just around the corner, so if you are looking for something fun you could give the children you love as a gift, consider getting some of the books from the illustrate my own series along with crayons, markers, and/or colored pencils. All of them are fun books which will uniquely engage the children you love in ways they have never engaged before with the accounts of Bible heroes. As they (and you) illustrate their books, they will think about what is happening, the things the Bible people said and did, and how God showed His love and grace to the Bible people . . . which will help the children you love better understand how God shows His love and grace to them as well!
